yah what do u mean cheap.?? you cant even see the design or the lines or the interior cuz of the camo. Its huge. the only way i would buy a 1 series if it loses atleast 300 lbs. dont think thats gonna happen. So my next car is either gonna be another 3, a 5 series, or a P-car

this is a 2l turbo diesel, i know this whistle very well.

it was funny indeed how he got cornered by the 3 and 6 on that intersection. Looked like the body guards or smth!

Car looks big and space bettween wheels means that they are adressing probably the biggest problem with 1er 5 door - lack of rear space. It looks like Golf basically. Cool. if its not just rwd but also practical (as much as it can be with rwd and high transmission tunnel you will always have cramped rear space compared to fwd) - then it will be a hit. In this ecnomony the 1 series is in huge demand for BMW.

Disappointing....sad that BMW keeps going bigger. I don't know why they feel the need to make the 1 bigger. They have begun to ruin every other model by doing that, and now can't help but do it to the 1. Hopefully the 1 series coup coming to the states won't suffer from the elephantitis that the rest of BMWs line up has. Bmws have been my favorite cars since I was 8, but they keep moving in directions I'm not to happy with. .....

I guess I'll just wait and see about power/weight ratio for my final verdict.

power to weight ratio does not address stopping or turning

I'm in my 135i for 8-10 years, the way things are going the 1 series will not be an option for me, hopefully the asians will catch up

I'm in the UK right now, there are 1 series hatches all over. Even saw a Sedona coupe in Edinburgh. This definitely looks like a 5 door. I would say the back doors are cut out around the rear wheel, but vinyled over (?). The size is bigger than the current model, but the rear seats on the current model are just way too small for normal adults. What I don't like is the body seems to have been de-styled so it's not as distinct as the current 1 hatches or coupes. Unless they surprise use, it lools pretty damn dull.

this is ok though, because you can buy a 3 series if you need more room back there, mini coopers sell like crazy, and those are some tiny back seats.

All I want is a small, light, powerful, rwd car, the 135i is so close to perfect, if they deleted all the luxury junk and cut 300-500 pounds it would be perfect. I dont need all the fancy stuff, like leather, or sunroof or 8 speakers with amp, or bluetooth or all the other stuff that is not required. I really don't want to go to porsche as I prefer to do my own work on the car, and I've just never been a fan of the platform, but when I'm done with my 135i I'll probably have no choice if I want a small fast car.

Come someone please explain why BMW is absolutely convinced that what the world (including its largest market, the U.S.) needs is to go back to driving hatchbacks ala the 1970's/early 80's???????????????

5 door. You can just make out the rear door handles at some angles.
I wouldn't want to be caught on tape in those shorts either

It's not really easy to tell the size without comparison and measurements. While a bigger heavier 1 series won't be desirable, if they can keep the weight in check, rear leg room in a 5-dr set up is necessary.

I'm all for the hatchback in the U.S.

SUVs won't die because they aren't required to meet the mileage standards of cars.

Since car companies always make new models slightly bigger than the previous I would say the transformation is almost complete. The 1 series is becoming the new 3.

the driver is very funny. He backs up his car all the way. I was thinking he was gonna hit that other bmw. Then he drives off super fast like he was racing that truck he pass. HAHA. I think that dude was pissed off cause you caught him buying a pack of cigarette and detouring away from what he was suppose to do.

Mules usually look larger than what the final product will be... BMW stated at some point that the next generations of the 1 and the 3 would be 2-cylinders short and would also be lighter(lets hope they were lying). Besides, it's not like the current 1 series is small.
