M preformance steering wheel
Hi all,
New 116i owner and is great fun to drive but not the biggest fan of the standard steering wheel. Thinking about getting the M performance wheel but I am unsure if I can get it as I have a different airbag and control system. Any ideas if it can be done?? Part number 32302230190 |

It seems there is a matching performance version for every basic steering wheel (standard, sport and M wheel) based on which airbag you have. Your partnumber is for sportwheel = no / M = no. Should do the trick. Anyway, plz2verify with dealer .

I agree with 1thomas, on that item it is best checking with your dealer and having it fitted by the dealer for warrantee. It shows in the parts list that there is a M Sport wheel available as an option on 116i and 118i

I was in the BMW dealer in Cape Town today (lunch meeting whilst on business here).
Yes, they do have a very nice coffee and food shop upstairs and it was a business meeting. I noticed in the BMW shop there was a M sport steering wheel without the centre airbag, so I asked the guy there what it was off. He says it was optional for the F20. He told me that it is a post build option that they can fit to all F20's because it doesn't have the digital display in it. Forgot to ask if you need a different air bag for it. |

The M steeringwheel is much more than justa badged standart wheel. It has very smooth but grippy leather and its noticably thicker than the others. I just love it!

I also have steering wheel with leather... is the M version made with another type of leather? I really didn't see a noticeable difference when I did the test drive... but I don't have M version, so I'm not the right person to compare!

Yes, its a different kind of leather. The normal leather- or sports steeringwheel has .. lets just call it "normal" leather. The M wheel has socalled walknappa leather. Its very smooth and feels noticably different (at least for me, being used to the normal leather for years in my e87).
two high-res detail-pics of the M-wheel: http://www.pic-upload.de/view-151681...40651.jpg.html http://www.pic-upload.de/view-151681...40673.jpg.html Intentionally not hotlinked, because 4MB each!

Not mine, courtesy of a guy in the german 1-series forum (1erforum.de), who happened to post those high-res-pics from his recent test-drive (in his actual own car, which is still a demo-car for one more week ) today, and I looked at them minutes before I read your post here.
