Merrell hiking shoes. Unless you really enjoy them, mid-rise and taller shoes are not needed and imo not comfortable. Gore tex or equivalent is important.
With gear, less is more. Get basic cooking gear from Cabelas or local sport shop. I like white gas but the trend today is butane. A multitool like a Leatherman is handy. And an LED headlamp for each person. Not much more needed except sleeping gear and food and water. |
