Liyng can be good, in my opinion. If the truth would hurt someone and no one wins/gains. Sort of „protecting lying", if that makes sense.

I may not tell the entire story but I don't lie. I'll also own my screw ups, even if they are super embarrassing. Being a former Navy nuke, we were given the authority to tell anyone in the chain of command no if it meant potential danger to the reactor, being given that means you have to have the utmost integrity. People could screw up, own it and suffer very little, but if you tried to cover it up, shit got ugly real quick.

That and I have too much of a conscience to really live with it.

Those are great attributes. My brother was a nuke on a sub and he is matter-of-fact and directly honest too.

Owning screw ups is so much simpler than any of the alternatives. I suppose there are situations where that is not the case but in most cases it's my experience that it is easier to own up, learn from it, and move on.

I guess you could've just said you're taking your own vehicle and just leave it at that...only if he pressed you then you can make up a real excuse (e.g. need to stop by to do some errands, and really do something like pick up some milk on the way back to clear your conscience) or white lie it like you said about visiting your offspring.

I don't lie that much because I try to avoid situations which may potentially lead me to make something up. (Things that make you say hmmm lol.)

Thanks. It's all due to my upbringing. My mom was a force of nature and she did everything she could to make sure her kids were kind, trustworthy, and honest. It worked on three out of the four of us.

I've tried to pass it on to my kids and set a good example. One time I was selling my 10 year old '79 Olds Cutlass Supreme. This guy comes by to look at it and starts counting off $100 bills to take the car. My kids were sending on the side. While this guy is pushing his cash on me, I'm standing there telling him the things that are wrong with the car. He, of course, didn't care. He was going to totally modify it and make it a low rider.

Is BS considered lying? Because if so and everyone was told not to BS for 2 weeks media included and straight up tell the truth... this country would fall apart in 2 to 3 weeks would be my estimate.
