Interesting recall, looks like it is directly related to something in the B58's system.

This makes sense. I took my 2020 M340 for annual maintenance and NYS inspection on July 30th, and I noticed on the invoice this line item:

E PROGRAM DME SIB 12 06 21
CAUSE: Campaign compliance
0071594 PROGRAMMING AND ENCODING THE VEHICLE
CONTROL UNITS
548 W948
FC: 0012650500
PART#:
COUNT:
CLAIM TYPE: 1W
AUTH CODE:
20747 PERFORMED CAMPAIGN 12 06 21 LABOR OP 00 71 084.

I didn't know what it was for (and my service advisor never explained it) but now I know it's related to this recall.

I put my M340i VIN into the NHTSA site and nothing came up. Are all 2020 M340i cars impacted? Just too soon?

I was expecting to see the G05 on this, but I assume because it no longer uses vacuum assisted braking, it isn't impacted.

Huh. Guess it's not all of them...

I have a x3m40i with a 06-2020 build date and it's not showing any recalls on the NHTSA site or the mybmw app. #knockonwood

Interestingly mdecoder.com shows type as "X3 M40I A" and engine as "B58D" whatever those variants mean...

When logging into myBMW account, it indicates my 2020 M340i requires a safety recall/repair. I guess im impacted.

Same with my 2020 X3 M40i - no recall. Manufactured January 2020.

Not sure if this makes any different. They have service bulletin for this car as well - SIB34 04 19. I'm filing a complaint to NHTSA right now. I actually experienced losing brake assist with 2019 X5 40i XLine a few times during 2 years of ownership. Fortunately I had no one near me but car would not let me brake and my car was drifting until I was somehow able to engage emergency brake and park.

G29 with a 18 MAY 21 production date and no recalls. I literally got the car last week so it may have been fixed at the delivery center. I'll keep an eye out though.

Interesting just had my 2020 m340 in for an unrelated issue. SA told me oh there is a DME recall. He only said "they updating the whole system " never mentioned breaks.🤔

When you program with ista, it will update any ECU that isn't at the latest software level. Sometimes, it's only one or two, other times it's 15 or so
