New Land Rover Defender

What do you guys think of the new Defender? It has been significantly modernized, though it appears it will still be incredibly capable on a trail. It has a lot to live up to from its iconic predecessor.

I dig it, but have no use for a $70k SUV.

Cool. Does it come with a Toyota Hilux/Tacoma to tow it home as an accessory?

I love it.

It has a good blend of old school ruggedness and modern day tech.

Going to likely replace the X5 in a few years so this will likely be a contender. We'll have to check this out once it lands at the dealerships.

I've been debating a loaded up Wrangler Rubicon. This seems like a better candidate. Now just to see what the OJ Express offers.

I don't like what they did to it. It is basically the exact opposite of what the Defender used to be. A simple 4x4 that was rugged and very versatile. Now is has more tech than most will ever use and has out priced itself from the masses. Plus, the electronics will break and when you're in the bush, that's not going to be a good thing. I so wanted this to be more than what it turned out to be.

Really gives me respect for Jeep and how they didn't screw up the Wrangler.

I'd love to have a new Wrangler Rubicon 2-door with the V6 and 6MT. With the options I want, it still comes out in the mid 40k range. I'll be curious to see what the pricing for the 90 will be like.

That's how I'd do it too. The problem is that they only have D110 pricing out and the six will be the only motor for the US D90. The six in the D110 starts at $62k. But a 400hp fixed roof, automatic, fully independent suspension D90 is a pretty different thing than a Rubicon. 10 inches longer, six wider and probably a good bit heavier if my sisters Range Rover is anything to go by.

Of course that independent suspension and extra power would make for a much more livable in town car and the fixed roof and extra side would be nice for the highway.

I LOVE this new 90!! I think they will sell everyone of them that they can build. I do think I would hold out for a more back to basic's 90 version that CarWow eludes too.

Agreed its a bubbled Honda Pilot! Ugly car with the lowest reliability rating of just about any car brand. Top that off for 50k, thats a hard pass.

I'd be all over this if it came with a manual, even better a diesel but I'm going to end up getting a Gladiator in the spring instead.

Yes. I would definitely spend $50k on a "luxury" vehicle that has a 4 banger. The 6 cylinder starts at $62k add some options and you can easily touch $90k.

Hence my comment about a $70k SUV.

I guess good try at being snarky?
