Matt's example wasn't just an empty chair. It was an empty chair with a book and eyeglasses, which is a better indication of someone having been there a minute ago than an empty park bench with nothing else around. Now an empty park bench with some empty fast food containers might be a different story. The idea being that there is *something* besides empty space to indicate a recent presence.

Your pic suits the theme. I'm not saying it doesn't. I just thought we'd have more imaginative entries.

I'm done pontificating. I've said my piece. And because I've been expressing my lack of enthusiasm, I think I'll sit this one out so as not to lend the appearance of trying to sway votes away from the existing entries (and hence, toward mine).

Hah, we'll see. Maybe I'll post a non-entry just to put my money where my mouth is.

I agree and disagree.

It's just a meaningless contest, and peoples ideas of how long after someone is somewhere will differ from person to person.

I think all submitted images match the title perfectly, but the contest description is a little different and maybe a little stretched.

All I know is the contests on this forum can be pretty anal and detail oriented. When i've poked around on other actual photography based forums, I've seen some submissions that have basically nothing to do with the contest outline, and nobody gets annoyed.

This may also be a part of why few people join these contests because we put so many little stipulations and such on these contests that people try once, see all of us discussing it all till we are blue in the face and think "well, that was a lot of fuss over nothing" and never submit again.

I was thinking it might have been along those lines, but I figured I'd leave you the opportunity to get your comment in there

Now *that's* stripping in a hurry. Didn't even untie the tie. Ouch.

Cool pic, though.

He was the one wearing the heels

The clothes was the only idea of mine I could do. The other I was thinking of was having a cloud of smoke from a burnout with two tire marks leading out of it but my 328 isn't exactly the best car to pull that off.

haha, not a bad idea.... I have a feeling, if I enter this contest, It's going to cost me money to get the things I want for a shot...

I don't really drink, so for me to do something with alcohol, I'd need to go buy some

Yours is the closest to the theme, IMO, but the glasses could have been there for days. If they still had ice in them, then it would have been closer.

+1 million.

A contest like this should be fun, without every entry being criticised to the nth degree whether it meets the entry criteria. If you don't like the photo, then don't vote for it when the time comes.

Just my 2 cents.

If you think a certain picture doesn't fit the theme "in your book"; just don't vote for it.

If we take Tim's pic for example, you said it yourself. Glasses "could have been" there for days. Maybe... Maybe not. Only him knows.

I agree that for some shots, having something on the actual pictures that proves that someone's "just" been there is more powerful then if not. But for some pictures, you can see that something happened on the scene and that nobody has been there after that.

Again, Tim's picture is a perfect example. Somebody's been there, but since they left, nobody came back on the scene, or the bed would had been made and glasses picked.
