Billy Springs "Renewal" got a 4 of 4 star rating in 'The Week' magazine. They won't let me link to the review, so:
"Raised among addicts in small-town Michigan, he quit high school at 14 but pulled himself together. Today, 'few people in music can pluck strings like Strings; his fingers are like cheetahs sprinting up & down the neck of his guitar....'" |

"Them forged their hard-nosed R&B sound in Belfast, Northern Ireland, moving to England in 1964 after landing a deal with Decca Records. The band's simmering sound was dominated by boiling organ riffs, lean guitars, and the tough vocals of lead singer Van Morrison"

I have always loved sailing ships, and the lore.
"Starbuck's sharpening his harpoon The black man is playing his tune An old salt's sleeping his watch away He'll be drunk again before noon Three years sailing on bended knee We found no whales in the sea Don't cry, little Robin-Marie 'Cause we'll be in sight of land soon" |

That's a pretty deep story for a rock song. Way deeper than the usual getting wasted, getting laid or rocking the night away.

The term "Nantucket Sleighride", refers to when the whalers went out in the little row boats to harpoon the whales. When harpooned, the whale would bolt, taking the small whaling boat on a fast & furious ride.
