Ebay banning ECU listings - Grrr....

New member here - have owned a few different models: M3, 435, X4 M40, X3, X5, X5 45e

I've joined up here because FleaBay is doing their usual heavy-handed approach to listings (I've had some other items kicked off before, they don't like tactical gear).

Anyway, you can't list any JB4's anymore. What the heck !!! I sold the one off my 435 there a couple years ago, now it's a blacklisted part, totally stupid.

From Ebay:
"Any tuner, device or software that can modify vehicle performance, even if it does not remap the ECU or ECM or is described as diagnostic"

Anyway thought I'd let everyone know if you didn't already. This is probably old news to most - once I get enough posts I'll list it here for sale! In the meantime hopefully can learn more from everyone.

Bret

Odd, I wonder why they care? Somethign CARB is pushing on them, so people don't try to get around the rules?

Socialistic behavior. It doesn't fit with their narrative so it is banned. Just like the Paypal rule that blacklisted payment for firearms and such devices. In that case, they froze accounts and confiscated "stole" the money.

Why are you telling me that? I didn't bring politics up into anything. Last time another member said that on one of my posts some dude name law came in and booted my happy ass for a month. We weren't even discussing politics at the time just like we aren't now.

It's not so much politics as it is a life style. Don't get me wrong, you are free to believe anything you like; just don't force others to live a life style you fervently believe in.

With that said, lets discuss a common interest like our beloved BMWs.

The gov is cracking down on aftermarket tuners. A private company doesn't want to get caught up in something and risk a fine if it represents a very small amount of it's revenue. You think ebay wants to involve all their lawyers to fight for this? This has been going on for decades in one form or another. I remember years and years ago when people were selling satellite tuner cards for those enormous backyard dishes.

Besides I thought ebay was pretty much all new stuff anyway, trying to compete with amazon? Thats probably why they blanket flagged ecu's. Gonna suck for the part out people selling msd81's etc...

Is it the government or the manufacturers?

What do you mean? Doing the cracking down? Like the manufacturers pushing the EPA to crack down on aftermarket tuning companies? The EPA is the one handing out fines. I'm not that into the whole thing to say who's really leading the charge.
