116i ECO PRO Economy Report
Hi All,
I thought you may be interested in the figures I’m getting from running in Eco Pro mode Long Run (motorway/a roads) 45.5 mpg (Driver + 1 passenger, total weight 24 stone) Commute to work 35.9 mpg (Driver + 1 passenger, total weight 27 stone) Commute from work 39.8 mpg (Driver + 1 passenger, total weight 27 stone) Commuting I’m averaging 7mpg more than my old 120i, which will save somewhere in region of £350 a year, or £1400 over the 4 years i will own the car. The blue 'bonus miles' seem to increase more in proportion to the miles driven when commuting rather than over a long run. On average I get 1 bonus miles for every 5 miles driven, whereas on a long run i get 1 bonus mile for every 7.5 miles driven. When the above is added to the £192 less it costs to insure this car over the old car, and the money I’m saving from doing a car share scheme, I’ve brought my motoring costs down by £1142 per year, £4568 over the 4 years

Seriously - I think these are great figures for a petrol car. Petrol engines will be a tough competitor to diesel in the years to come

We measure longer distances in miles, but shorter distances in meters…. And we measure height in either Feet and inches or Meters and centimetres depending on who you talk to!

Are your figures obtained consequently in ECO PRO, or is it a mix of driving modes?

One thing that i would really like would be something a bit like a kick down on an auto car that recognised you want power and automatically switched into Sport. BMW, if your reading this.....

Yes! Totally agree, that would be great! And/or I would like to be able to set the default start mode with the iDrive. When i start driving I like the acceleration of the Sport mode, and when driving constant speed switch back to Comfort or Eco. But now I need to remember to put it in Sport everytime I start it. |
