Question M135i and F21: Ask Your Questions

It's time for an FAQ again. We'll have the chance to get in touch with BMW and ask questions about the new 1 Series 3-Door (F21) and M135i. So if you got any questions just reply to this thread and we'll try to get the answer in due time.

Best regards,
south

Will the F20/F21 be offered with individual exterior/interior colors? And will there be a 128i or 130i to join the range or is that filled by the M135i?

I am also interested if there will be a model between the 125i and M135i? If not, will the 125i have at least an M performance power kit?

I don't know if this is really the right place for this question. But I'm looking at ordering a 3dr 114i. It is supposed to come with the usb-port. Can I use my iPhone3g's iPod functions with the iDrive and 6,5" display? What about Facebook? Or so I need the snap-in adapter for these?

Second that.

But seriously, any chance of the 5 dr xDrive M135i version coming to the UK seeing as the M550xd isn't?

And why can't we have the alcantara/cloth seat option in the UK and not only have to settle for leather.

M135i

Hi, I just want a test drive from you guys or any other magazine of the M135i! Apart from that the requirement, the questions I have are the following:

- How much the handling differs between the RWD and XDrive versions? Which version is the best one?

- Is going to come with the new display for the navigation package that all the other series are getting?

- Explain more in detail the differences between the M Performance and the normal version with an M-Sport Kit or M-Performance Parts, apart from the engine. How much they differ? Is notorious? When could we expect the test drives from the automobile press (reviews, previews, etc.)?

Hope you could ask this questions, because I want to order the M135i soon!!!

Thanks in advance!

Why is there no indication of the oil temperature? Should be easy to include in the bc.

Will the M performance springs and dampers deliver superior handling over the already very good factory setup of the M135i?

Is there a plan for a performance kit for the 1.6 litre petrol engine (116i & 118i)?

Officially from BMW? No, and I don't expect one. Numerous know tuner offer performance-tunings, Hartge, Schnitzer and so on come to my mind. But they're asking serious money.

Early in the 1M development, Scott suggested there would be a comprehensive personalisation program which never materialised.

Other than the M Performance line of accessories and the BMW Individual program there hasn't been any other announcements so far.

Does this mean we have everything the personalisation program was ever going to be? Is it being saved for the M2 or is there something coming soon for the F2x?

I might as well ask here too What are the specs for the X-Drive setup planned for the M135i?

- Type of diffs (centre and rear), torsen, clutch, viscous?
- Torque distribution F/R
- Any electronic intervention with / without ESP?

There's no information on Individual for the F20/F21 yet. As of now, there are no plans to offer a 128i or 130i. BMW feels the gap between 125i and M135i is just right to have the M135i stand out.

No, it would be too close to the 335i.

xDrive won't be available on RHD cars.

I haven't asked explicitly about the UK but it's the same for the US. While there are some people who would like to have alcantara and cloth seats there aren't enough buyers in total to justify offering it.

I drove the RWD version only (xDrive won't be available for a couple more months) so I can't compare.

No.

I hope to post my review soon.

Cheers South.

Very disappointing. So it was too late to engineer xDrive for F2x forRHD drive or they decided not too?

We seem to be getting xDrive RHD for F3x.
