My work from home situation could change at any point and I also like the idea of a nice daily as well. If I knew things weren't going to change, I'd buy a manual 911 and call it a day. I'm just conflicted with where I want to put my money on a combo of cars or just keep one that's good at both the daily duties and fun (so far that's the RS5 in my case). Unfortunately I can't afford something amazing for both...well I could but I'd be getting a divorce.

What types of weekend cars do you have on your list?
LOL it wouldn't surprise me either, although I'm really really enjoying the combo of RS5 and Q7. For weekend use I've looked at everything from older 911's, Mustangs, F-Type (V8), the new GR86, even some of the "higher mileage" LC500's are coming down in price...higher mileage on those is like 15k miles, C63s Coupe, and a bunch more that I can't think of right now. Basically something that I don't care so much about gas mileage, is fun, and a little more out of my sterile Audi life (not complaining) that I kind of need as a work/life/fun balance vehicle. I also have 3 young kids, so the weekend car doesn't have to be something I need to ever transport anyone in.
Cheap Miatas are always fun. Paid less than $5k for one and it has everything I wanted out of a weekend car. Light weight, hydraulic steering, cable throttle, fantastic manual and clutch, easy to mod, reliable as hell, super fun, and work hard for the power without going beyond the speed limit. Question is do you fit in one?

It may not have a growling V8 or smooth and seductive styling, but for the price it does a lot of what I want and provides a lot that isn't available on many or any new cars.

Definitely considered Miatas as well. Even a new ND would be interesting for the price, but I think an older one would be just as fun and let me tinker around with it! I would fit into to it...I'm only 5'10" and average build.

Strangely, I've also been looking for good examples of cars from my past like good condition Honda Prelude, Toyota Celica, Integra...call it an early mid life crisis or just nostalgia, I don't know lol Problem is finding them in good condition, not modified, and not REDICULOUSLY priced is getting harder and harder.

I've no idea where you live but if close enough, we can split the 997 and both save a fortune! Going for a ride today, too nice a day not to drop the top and scope for middle aged woman who look like they'd make great mothers. I kid, know where my bread is buttered.
Hahaha I'm in Milton but also have a place in North York. Let's do the 997 split!! I know where my bread is buttered as well, but there's no harm in browsing the produce

Yeah the Miata is definitely the easiest car to find out of those. I went with a clean one-owner NB and am very happy with it, it compliments the S-Class very well since one is good at Luxury and the other is good at Sport, but they don't overlap. I cannot for the life of me remember the last time I saw a Prelude or a classic Celica in good condition, I barely see them ever. Integras are here and there, but ever since they've been hitting BaT, people are pricing them way too high.

Exactly. We don't have BaT here in Canada but the prices are still nutso for any decent condition 90s JDM (which are few and far between). About 7 or 8 years ago, I found a PERFECT condition '95 Prelude (VTEC of course haha) with no rust and low mileage. Bought it for $3k and sold it a year later for $4k. If I had held on to that thing, since it was really just a weekend toy, I'd be sitting on a gold mine...relatively speaking.

They say answer is always Miata but i keep coming back to a 15 to 17 manual stang. Cheapish and good power, cheap to mod/correct suspension. Just heavy though.

I am on a list for a 1st year C8Z so I won't count that as it's a given if GM ever gives us pricing & opens order banks....

I am thinking R8 V10 or a Ferrari or some sort or maybe I will, instead of looking for driver quality, just buy an already resto modded 60s Chevelle or Cutlass. Maybe buy a different kind of bucket list car & go V8 Esprit.

Too many cars, not enough money............
You won't regret it - I love mine. Also waiting for a C8Z.

I was interested in McLaren Artura but the reviews seem kind of underwhelming. The 296 GTB is sadly not affordable right now.

The 296 is so expensive for a V6 Ferrari regardless of performance. Idk... It's beautiful too - I definitely considered. What I really want is an 812.

Oh yes, would love to get a relaxed V12 GT car. I was really obsessed with the idea of getting a DBS Superleggera.

I'd love to get a new MX-5 RF but I only have 1 parking space and it would be ridiculous to replace my Z4 w that. (Some?) Ppl already think I'm crazy w the Z4 being my only car haha (I'm not, it's VERY practical for 2 ppl...I dunno who are all those crazy ppl who must feel the need to buy 5 bulk tp pkgs from Costco at one go).

So far so good, we took it on a 600 mile trip last weekend, very comfortable with the air suspension and 30 MPG.

Got a text from dealer last week that the '23 BRZ is still expected in August, but still no VIN.

So I'm having a hard time believing, it's going to be built, get to the port, make it across the ocean, have the STi short shifter installed at the port, and make it to the middle of the country in the next two months.

If I could hit you with a brick for what you've just done to me.

I spent the past half-hour searching maiden-gen Prelude's AND Celica's on BAT. If I didn't already have a definitive top 5 dream garage already, you've just nuked it by mentioning those two vehicles... f*ck

Haha it drives me nuts as well. I've owned probably 10-12 Preludes and Celica's (various generations). I really want something pristine that I can take to my grave, but they are impossible to find in good shape. It's kind of sad that my dream garage queen is a 90's fwd sports car lol.

Z06 I think. But I would settle for a little Fiat 500 Abarth lol. I still miss that little quirky car.

Of course, I’ll never say never, and at some point I’ll have to go electric. But right now, i think i am well and truly good

ORCL? I think you guys are well-equipped to weather this current madness, and you’ll be selling really low on those RSU’s. And then buying super-high on a depreciating asset like a new automobile…ouch. You didn’t ask for my opinion, but i can’t help making the observation (with good intentions)
I'm on the same boat. I've lost interest in getting a Porsche because of the crazy prices, and between the E36, E92, Z4M and M2, I've pretty much raided the entire M lineup of cars that interest me.

Got an X3 M40i as a daily a few weeks ago and absolutely loving it. I think I'll just keep replacing this car as the daily, but as far as keepers are concerned, I genuinely think I'm done.

It feels kind of nice deleting Autotrader off my phone

P.S. Having said all that, I might actually consider selling the E36, I just don't have the time and will to maintain all these cars anymore. I barely even drive them. It's strange going through the stage of not really caring so much about cars, I have to say it's a first for me.
