I don’t hate the company. However I don’t like self driving feature. Drive your damn car or hire someone that will do it for you if you wish. I wouldn’t laugh if one of my loved ones would be involved in one of those crashes. I would really like if those self driving features would be banned for good. They are needless. Take Uber, bus, plane, bike, bicycle, or any other transportation of your choice but this is not a good way of progress if you ask me.

Fully self driving vehicle technology is still a long ways off from being remotely practical under real world conditions, imo.
At best, we'll be utilizing warning indicators - sounds, lights, etc. (which I fully support)

What frightens me, is that Tesla is allowed to test their Beta software thru the Public Sector under real world driving conditions and we're relying on the human element to make quick life & death choices and perform corrections when that software makes catestrophically poor decisions (such as driving straight thru an intersection from a right turn only lane).

Well. I don’t support that technology. It’s not an airplane that can go on autopilot particularly when on cruising altitude. I think with all the tech and research it can be done in the future, but honestly other than being “cool” what is the real benefit. I like those blind spot and emergency braking, but that lane keeping assist only serves people for them to be able to email and text while driving. I see this all day long especially in highly populated areas.

My car seems perfect. Guess I’m lucky.

Even did autopilot on my way home yesterday after work and I hardly ever use AP.

Works awesome. Now I know why people love it.

My autopilot works perfectly. I opened up my Uber app and the guy showed up a few minutes later and I got to my destination without having to drive. Love autopilot.

Though this post is endemic of the problem with Tesla's use of the term Autopilot. Most of the public think a plane flies itself when on autopilot, which is completely untrue. Maybe the misunderstanding comes from movies over the years or perhaps the term itself, but pilots monitor the process of the plane flight when in autopilot. You can't not pay attention to the road and have a car on "autopilot" is driving itself.

In my view, it is more tiring to watch the car drive rather than just drive it. My opinion is it is more dangerous to not be fully engaged with the driving activity (i.e. not paying full attention) and let the car navigate itself until such time it fails and the driver has to take over. In that situation, with a driver half engaged with the driving activity, he does not have full situational awareness and most often make a driving error when trying to correct for the Autopilot error. I ask one question of any of us, does anyone watch their dishwasher was the dishes? No of course not. It is human nature that once a machine takes over the duty of work and automates it, we humans stop paying attention.

Bottom line is, as you said, just drive the damned car. It's safer. If you don't want to participate in your own safety by driving yourself, don't rely on the machine, hire the job out to a professional.

Well I am not a native speaker so I wouldn’t be able to use your wording on that subject and I 100% agree. I didn’t mean that pilot would throw the plane on autopilot and than go to sleep however I’ve seen some videos on YouTube of Tesla owners… some people get mad of all the rules and regulations and guidelines… even manual for toothbrush. Common sense is not common.

This. If it weren't for the fact that it's Musk, there's no way in hell NHTSA would have let them get away with what they have.

I gotta think that the Dawn Project, including the Superbowl Ad that they ran, had a lot to do with this. I've got a lot of respect for Dan O'Dowd and how he's used his money. He's been on a jihad against FSD for quite some time and finally getting some traction with the regulators (and maybe the public). That said, I love my DAAP and use it all the time.
