Oh yeah, and let's put a V8 in it
Wouldn't that have made the car too front-heavy with a V8, for the perfect weight distribution?

Cool that they’ve been making these cars all along, even if they haven’t made it to production. Plenty being said of their efforts lately but it’s clear to me they still know how to make that secret sauce

Technically, the M engineers could build themselves their very own "The Homer" but doesn't mean they'll recoup the cost of development and production in the public market..

I'd love to see the 7 series outfitted with BMW's V16 engine from 1987.

The ZF8 in the new M4CSL actually shifts faster than the "old" DCT of the past due to software upgrade. There is a video covering this.

Not me. The DCT was too herky-jerky in stop and go traffic. Just can't beat the ZF8 for all around goodness.
The way BMW tunes it, it is THE BEST automatic transmission out there.

Wholeheartedly disagree. The PDK is a smoother transmission, better gear changes in sport/+ and perfectly fine around town. It's not jerky at all. BMW's DCT just required you to drive it a bit differently and it was fine but I undertands it's not for everyone. The ZF8 has too many compromises for me in a sports car. If the M3 didn't have a ZF8 I would've kept it.

I don't why people are keep saying DCTs and SMGs are jerky.
There is a way to drive these things smoothly!
Typically, people with no manual experience say this.

I certainly have owned/raced plenty of muscle cars with manual transmissions. I also have driven many 18 wheelers with 10, 13, 15 and 18 speed transmissions.
So I'm well aware of how to operate a manual transmission.

Someone should ask to engineers, more than the design, transmission, etc, something about the sound. They just lost the pure M sound, even with restrictions they have today, i think they can do better

Please post the vid, and how fast are the downshifts?

The dct in m2, does a kickback feel , makes it feel like its shifting hard, your car jerks in sport, sport+ makes it really fun to drive at speed!
