Engine sound
Hello.
I have a 1 series 2013 116 i. I don't like the sound of the engine at idle. It almost sounds like a diesel engine. Attaching a video. Should the engine sound like this? https://bimmers.no/repository/monthl...fe45132cda.MOV |

MY 2014 116i has done 87k and sound a little like yours but not quite as loud. Has the timing chain been changed? (by 100k I think) |

It has done 90k km. The timing chain has been replaced.
But is the sound ok, or is it a sign that something is wrong? Regards Last edited by niets123; 09-03-2022 at 01:57 AM.. |

Just in case you are missing something about these forums' reality: it's a spammer digging a latrine to shit. You don't really need to repeat your just previous post or thank for crapping your thread. Unless that's exactly what you like, of course.

This is a serious forum, just not populated (which might mean there's not much to discuss about this model ). And this must be why spammers come in hope to stay unnoticed.
Your engine sounds "legit" to me: I can't hear anything wrong. But I am not an expert: I never really bother to listen to it outside of the cabin (windows closed ), only occasionally. The N13 engine is notorious for unattractive, "diesel" sound, especially when it's cold (not at operating temperature). It's all right, AFAIK:
