Misha agrees i.e. a Pro-Driver - local hot shoe - could shave off another 10 seconds.

Interesting that they moved away from Brembo.

Agreed. This is extremely impressive to see the engineers doing times like this. That's like saying, "Hey GP, go out and match Max's lap time" - no way would he be able to. It's even more impressive knowing that it has just beaten every Porsche GT and hypercar despite the fact that Porsche lives at the Ring and spends thousands of hours there which equates to tens of thousands of laps. Chevy does not get this luxury. Beyond even that, as far as I can tell, the car was as it would be delivered from the factory. Not only does Porsche usually remove the passenger seat, they usually stick a roll cage in cars when you otherwise either dont get one (US) or have to option it. So their 'times' are done with cars you won't take delivery of. Again, mighty impressive that Chevy has all those things against it yet still put down times most cars far more expensive or are limited track day specials cant.

GM has used a ton of different brake suppliers over the years. On the C6 they used PBR or something like that out of Australia. Brembo has recently been hlthe buzz people, but Brembo calipers aren't like the most amazing, they're just the ones with the name brand recognition.

I suspect they put out an RFP for the calipers and that's who came back with the right offering. On a product this extreme you don't need the marketing name of Brembo to make people realize how nuts it is,

You do know this isn't how car sales work right? GM only builds what is ordered by dealerships, and dealerships can only place an order if they receive an allocation for that model. So the cars are already "sold" before they even start down the production line. GM provides dealerships with allocations to then place an order for the car. Therefore they can't be "back ordered" or "sold out" as people like to say.

Dealerships may have lists with many people on them waiting to place an order, but not every Chevy dealership will get an allocation to be able to order one. Out of ~3,000 Chevy dealerships, about 20 account for the majority of Corvette sales.

People said the same thing when the Z06 was revealed and just 2 models years later they're sitting on dealer lots with discounts of $15k or more. There are even less buyers of a $200k + Corvette than there are for a $100k Corvette, so total sales of the ZR1 & ZR1X aren't going to be very significant.

The other consideration is the $240k loaded ZR1X has the same crappy interior and features as the $70k Stingray & has to get serviced at the same crappy Chevy dealerships that can't figure out the Z06 has 2 oil drain plugs & constantly overfills during oil changes. Good luck.

My Carbon Z06 & the ZR1 has Brembos, but PBR supplied the standard Z06/GS calipers.

I am a long time Corvette owner 2 C5 Z06's 2 C6 Z06's a C6ZR1 and a C7Z06. For some reason the C8 just does not give me the got to have it feeling. My C6ZR1 was by far my favorite with the mark up on the new ZR1's and you can bet there will be a hefty mark up for quite some time on these. I don't see GM sell a shit ton of these there not not many people who can afford a sports car at that price along with the upkeep of it.

Now they have a stop sale for 25-26 Z06 and ZR1 for them catching on fire a the gas station thats not a good look for a car that cost as much as a home. I have seen mark up on the C8ZR1 as much as 200K over MSRP just do some digging it will blow you mind. At that kind for pricing there are lot of options my preferance is the SF90 not any thing form GM that for sure.

That's because of the idiots that keep pumping past the cut-off. I'd say that "problem" is self-correcting.

It's because the air intake is right below the fuel filler & the fan keeps running after you shut the car off pulling fumes & dripped fuel into the engine. It's not a risk on Stingray because there isn't a fan in that driver's side opening. But just blame the owners, not the poor design.

Well yeah, you are supposed to stop at cut-off because it's dangerous to have fuel flowing out of the filler. If you are that idiot, you deserve a lesson or two.
