My 118i Sport - Alpine White
Just got my Alpine White 118i Sport. It's my first RWD so took it for a spin on some nice curvy backroads today. Love the way it handles, I can really feel the difference with my previous car, an A3, which I still like, but the handling of the 118i is in a different class. It's just so much fun!
Details of my car (dubbed Tony Manero as it's stylish white and powered from the hips ): 118i Business Sports Alpine White M Sport suspension 18" wheels styling 385 Professional Navigation Automatic Air conditioning Hifi System Xenon Driver Comfort Package Visibility Package Brushed Aluminum trim & High gloss Black trim finisher Anthracite Headlining Lumbar support Only thing I regret is not taking is HK audio. The Hifi audio is not as good as I had hoped, as it doesn't have separate tweeters and I'm lacking just a bit of detail. But I haven't spend that much time tweaking it, so perhaps i can still find the sweet spot. I thought I'd add some pics as well, unfortunately it was a bit greyish weather today. Nice ride! No tinted windows from the B-pilar?
As you are a Dutch you could also check www.1serieforum.nl

Nice car. Please can you share your experience on the m sport ride? I have an m sport on order which comes with 18" alloys. Obviously was not able to test it as the model has only just gone into production.

Nice! 18s look great, how's the ride with the low profile tyres + M-Sport suspension? I had that on my old E81 and it was a little to hard for me for every day driving. On the upside it handled on rails!

Thanks! The 18" & M-suspension for me has the perfect mix between tight and comfortable, you still feel ridges and lines on the road, but not annoyingly, bigger bumps are smoothed out very well. My previous car (the current A3 model) had 18" and lowered suspension as well (not the S-suspension though) and the 1 is very comparable, i think the 1 is a tad smoother. I like a tight ride though, one of the reasons I drive German, but it shouldn't be harsh. I want to be able to do drives of 1000+ kms and come out rested as well.
The wheels were around 1750 EUR as an upgrade from the alloys that cam with the Sports line. Didn't go for the tinted windows as I don't like the difference between front and rear side windows. It's difficult to describe a noise of course, but as the car is well isolated the engine sound is quite modest. As I just have it I don't want to hammer it too badly for now, but on the way back from work I rolled down the window when I accelerated fast from the traffic lights, and the sound is nice, but not overly sporty, I think you would need a Performance exhaust for that. I think, and it's what I got from a couple of colleagues who own the old 1, the F20 is the matured version of E87, with a smoother ride, higher quality materials, slightly roomier and personally I like the Sport to Eco-Pro Control button as once on the highway I set it on Comfort or Eco-Pro as there I don't need the 'aggressiveness' of the Sport mode, except perhaps when overtaking, but even in Eco-Pro it's no slouch. |

Gorgeous...the 18'' really suit the car! Wish we had better roads in Greece so I could fit the 18'' wheels.

I like BMW own hifi system, but it take time to find the correct settings! I have also M-sport suspension and I think it is really comfortable to drive (maybe too soft). Car looks good!

The rims suit the car very well! Congrats with your new ride. Car also delivered by Van Peolgeest Amstelveen?
Pictures have been taken close to Amsterdam. I recognize the Ceres terminal .

The HiFi is a bit better now after tweaking it. Still I think it has a lack of clarity, which is (I'm pretty sure) due to the absence of seperate tweaters. Still considering whether I should get an upgrade, I think I'll get my dealer to find out what it will cost, and see if it's worth it. The sound is pretty good after the tweaking, but my curse is that i pay attention to details...
I got mine from Van Poelgeest Heemstede, not to far from Amstelveen And yes the pics were taken near Zaandam, during a drive over a small curvy road parallel to the A9. I got the route from the BMW Ultimate Drive app, where people can enter fun to drive routes And thanks everyone for all the compliments! Took it for a spin last weekend to go eat curry sausage in Germany It gets to 200 quite easily after that it was a bit harder to increase speed, but I think that was mostly due to traffic. Checking the speed while driving 200+ on a 2 lane road is sort of tricky, so not sure what my top speed has been |
