Sadly, it will never work because the instruments (kombi) would need to be changed.

When a limiter is fitted, there is a moving red/green led on the outside of the speedo dial which shows the limiter or cruise speed and also a yellow symbol on the dash that shows the CC has been turned on. Also, for dynamic CC to work, the car needs to have Hill Hold (hill start assistant).

There is a way to do a dash test using the trip reset button:

So, in my case the same thing happen the CC doesn't work. I have to swap it with one with CC option. If I only change the eeprom from the original to the donor one everything willl work? Thanks!

If you don't have a limiter I think it will not be as simple as changing an eprom or even the kombi and of course you have to code using e-sys & Bimmer Utility.

Other ecus may need major updates such as to use the CC buttons, for the DME to have CC ability.

When a limiter is fitted, it's only a matter of coding it from this to CC. I doubt that there will be an option to code CC if there isn't a limiter.

Thanks for the quick reply.

But the limiter works in my car!

Just the CC doesnt work.

If I press the limit button it works as it should.

Do you think that I need to code the DME?

But if I change the eeprom the donor cluster will work?

Thanks

If you have a working limiter, then changing the steering wheel controls to the CC one should work once you have used E-sys to make the changes.
CC uses the same leds in the kombi as the limiter.

You don't need to program anything, just coding changes.

Have you done these?

The instructions and link to guides is in earlier posts.

Yes, I have done the coding changes.

But when I test the cluster, the led for the CC and for the limiter don t light up!

And when I use the limiter it works but the led dont light up.

I have coded the car with FA 249 and 544. I coded the cluster, FEM, CIC and HU_NBT.

The car originally does not have any buttons on the steering.

Do they light when you do the self test (search for 'hidden menus')?

So you need to change the kombi for one with the leds - not easy or cheap.

You didn't code ICM?

No, they dont light up!

I have to code the NBT because without coding the telephone buttons and the mode button dont work.

Why do you say that it isn't cheap? Because off the price off the used cluster?

So if you didn't code the ICM and kombi, maybe you should. (do you have an F20 o some other model?)

A used one won't work off the shelf. I think it's a VIN and odometer issue. (obviously BMW made it next to impossible to deter thefts and clocking)

Sorry for the misunderstood, but I already coded the Kombi, FEM, ICM and NBT.

My F20 came with a limiter. I had to replace the steering wheel controls to the type for CC so no Limiter, just dynamic CC.

Which controls have you fitted?

Does your car have hill hold?
(which means the electronics can keep the brakes on for a few seconds and means that dynamic cruise will work)
If not maybe CC will never work.

Sorry for the late reply.

I'm not sure if my car have hill hold, I will check later.

Same controls as I have.

Did you FDL code it to keep the limiter?

Maybe re code it after turning off the Limiter function. (I don't have this)

I had a kombi error after I reconnected the battery and cruise control failure the first time i tried it.

I pulled over and restarted and all the error messages stopped and never returned.

Attached the e-sys VO coding guide - might be worth checking you didn't miss any steps.

I turn off the limiter fuction and then cruise is alway giving error.. the same error that was with the limiter on..

Are you sure that if my car does not have hill hold, it will not work?

The limiter was on by default btw...

I have to code FDL to turn it off

This is the problem. This means that you don't have the correct instruments to support (minimum) LIM or cruise. Cruise Control will never work as long as you have those basic instruments - sorry.
Hill hold has nothing to do with it.

Thanks for the reply!
So if I change my KOMBI with one with CC option will it work?

So how is his limiter working?

Hill hold matters if you expect dynamic cruise to work as it proves the brakes can be applied by the electronics -obviously essential for dynamic cruise.

But you agree with my earlier comments that the kombi needs to be changed.
