Top Gear VW Golf Comparo
I was disturbed (even pissed off) by the recent Top Gear episode where an M135i went out of control at 120mph in the rain (and a Golf GTI did not). The only explanation given was "hydroplaning". The producers seemed to be blaming BMW for a car that hydroplanes. Of course, a FWD, front engine car may have a traction advantage, but no tire analysis was done. Was the M135i on summer tires? The Golf on all seasons?
Top Gear has been a very entertaining and informative show in the past. I don't believe this comparo was up to its usual standards...and will it EVER stop raining in England? |
