Went to BMW today. It cost AU$4,000 for the 18" M brake (fitted). Has anyone fit other aftermarket brake on their F20?

I fitted the M performance for around $3000USD
actually, looks aside, the stopping power is similar to the M sport on the M135i
it does however has a different linear characteristic, the M performance feel more straight as oppose to the M sport feels weaker at first and exponentially stronger as you push hard, and the pads on the M performance feel a bit harder
is it worth the money, probably not if you already have the M sport
but if you can find someone to buy your M sport like I did, then its worth considering
I kinda got it for the looks
if the stopping power is not enough for you, then go get some proper 6 pistons

Yes....they do, dealer says "it's best to buy from dealer to make sure" but they are the same part number.

I'm getting these for mine, will probably get from dealer though just in the odd chance something wrong happens..

can you retrofit the m-sport brakes, not the performance but the sports, on a regular brake set? is it just adjusting the callipers or is it a lot more to change?

What do you mean by adjusting the calipers?
The M-sport brakes have different calipers from the regular ones. I am pretty sure you can retrofit them.

Old ones bolt off. M-Sport bolt on.

I'm going to have a brand new set for sale in about 4 weeks as I'm having M Performance brakes fitted to my M135i straight away/before delivery.

if you have them for sale, let me know plz
wondering how much the shipping to Belgium costs

i'm having the regular brakes on my 118i, but i regret not taking the m-sports, just for the look of them only. regular brakes do well, if the m-sports do better, its only an extra on top of the looks for me

Turner Motorsports stock them. I've bought heaps of gear from them in the past for my M3 and can highly recommend them. Postage usually takes 2 weeks. How does that price compare to dealer price?

I'm not sure if it is true, but I heard that when you bolt on the M Sport brakes, one needs to change a setting in the ECU.

Same at the rear as well, unless you have 328i, 330d, 335i. Then you need a different partnr.

On my F20 120d with orange calippers I used this nr.
Front: 34 11 2 221 447 calipper front and rear and 2 disks front
Rear: 34 20 6 797 598 2 disks rear.

Regarding M135i. Not the same calippers.
Hello

Sorry but I didn't catch one thing... I want to buy M-sport brakes from F20 M135xi and fit to my F30 320xd, all the parts are the same or not? Especially rear rotors? I just checked they have different part numbers.

Thank you in advance.

They are different, they aren't all the same, not sure of differences just know the 316 and 320 were different.

Rather important it seems... Can anyone confirm this?

I had my M-Performance fitted at a shop I know well, they prep tracktoys and trackracing M3's and M5's.
In the installation instructions it says that you have to update some software setting in the computer. They've fitted numerous sets of BMW (M-)Performance brakes and never done this update. None of their customers every had a problem or a complaint.

I'm not exactly sure what this update is related to, but it's true that if you follow the instructions exactly, you'll have to hook up your BMW to the dealer's computer for a certain code.

I guess it would be nice for the ABS/DTC/DSC and fake differential brake system to know the reponse characteristics of the installed brakes for optimum performance. There is probably a dynamic model including brake parameters involved in the closed loop regulation.

As a cybernetics engineer, at least that is how I would have implemented it.

No idea where you in Australia, but I am in Brisbane and would take them off you if we can work out a price.

PM me if you are interested

Very plausible.
I was planning to have the dealer update the computer when my car has to go in for service. I also have the fog light malfunction warning due to fitting the M-Performance front lip.

Do the performance brakes fit without problems with the standard 18 inch alloys?

I'm very interested to know if it is possible retrofit complete MSport brake system (blue color) from a 135i to a 118i MSport with 18" M wheels,

Somebody could confirm, please?

I asked at the dealer and told me they are incompatible because retrofitting didn't appear on their ETK system...
