I am having lots of issues on my 116i, drivetrain malfunction, misfire NOW, and a lot more, was wondering if making a swap to the N20 is something that can be done.

It obviously can be done, but do you really wanna put that engine in your car? Might be cheaper to sell it and buy a 120i with the N20.Are you planning to do the swap yourself or will give it to a mechanic?
I was thinking of putting a b58 in my 116i but that dream slowly faded away the more i was looking into it.
