F21 light bulb issue.

Hi all - I know this isn't new, but I've not been able to find an appropriate post.

I have a 2015 F21 125d. The o/s parking and day running lights are not working and I have an error message on the display. When I pull the bulbs out of the holders, they will work and I put them back in and they work for a while. If I switch off and then back on, they stop working again.

Clearly the bulbs are okay - but what else could be the issue? A short? Control failure?

Any advice would be welcome before I start preparing an overdraft for garage advice
