Dust off the tooling on that E46 M3 touring and I'll buy and drive that until the keys are taken away. OK OK. I would even settle for modern 3 or 5 GXX touring, but BMW has abandoned that small US market.

I just trade my 2014 328d F31 with 160 000kms recently since the end of the emission parts warranty was getting to close. Make them cheaper to repair and we will keep them. according to the dealer it recquire a new set of brake, disk and sensor every 50000kms so that a nice 1800$(cdn) the Nox sensor failed every 50000 kms which is another 3500-4000$ outside warranty so 5500$ every 50000kms outside of regular maintenance. I haven't talk about the transfer case that did fail once under warranty that could be a nice 5000$ to fix. The EGR have been done with a recall who know how much it would cost to fix and what about the DPF? All that money to be spent on a car that have basicly the same resale value than a Toyota Corolla same year and millage.

F31 diesel, neat car! You mention this and proceed to rattle off dealership pricing though? Find a reputable independent wrench if you aren't comfortable DIYing, getting fleeced on labor rates and potentially parts pricing (OE vs OEM).
