It seems crazy to see so many people voicing (warranted) resentment to the block on sending pms. If there's such concern over how the messaging system is to be used (or abused) why not disable it all together...otherwise just open it up for everyone 🤷*♂️

Kind of what you call false choices. It's for people that have been around a while, contribute, and are reasonably assured to not be scammers. Yeah a few good newbies get hosed along the way but so be it, no different than if there wasn't a system as you suggested. Works for most of us here, no need to kill it or open it when leaving it alone is a perfectly good option as well.

Is there somewhere that says what the requirements are? "A certain number" is vague. I joined as soon as I got my G80 back at the end of August. I'm mostly a lurker who wants tech tips, will share product experiences, and will share pics every now and then. But still shows:

I joined in August and posted pics of our new to us X7. Posted some new posts but also have the same PM restrictions as shown on your page.
Still searching for forum rules on specifics about when PM is available.

does anyone else see "private messaging disabled" in the top right of the page? not sure if this has always been there but i have been able to send pm and receive in the past
