I’ve heard of success stories as well. All depends on the person being approached and the approach itself. Last thing anyone wants is to alienate people at the gym - don’t shit where you sleep so to speak.

I don't mind a little hair, I also like them clean shaven, but to have a jungle down there just isn't for me. Manicured in whatever state is a must.

Do you do it yourself, or go somewhere? I've considered it, due to the fact that the passage of time is pretty much dictating it - within a year or two it will be fait accompli whether I lift a finger or not.

Or I'll look like Homer Simpson.

But I've been skeptical of shaving my own head...could do the top and sides, but not sure about a razor to the back where I can't see.

I use a set of oyster classic 76 clippers with a 0000 blade. Been doing my own hair cuts for the past 15 yrs or so. I do it a couple times a week. Never taken a blade to my head though.

I don't use a razor. I use this thing https://www.amazon.com/Remington-HC4...gateway&sr=8-5

About once or twice a week I use a phillips/norelco One Blade at 1.5mm on it to get it nice and short and clean.

I still have stubble but my hair on top is so thin it's more like brown smoke or brown fog that just kinda hovers around my cranium. I got tired of the socially inept making comments about my hair. I don't go around calling people out for their less than perfect physical attributes and not sure why they felt they needed to point out they noticed mine but whatever. I'd rather keep it stubbly than to try and hang on to something that isn't there. I miss my hair but I do get compliments on the shaved head.

Actually, shaving the back is the easiest part I do. Try to scrape a line in the middle, then work to one ear. "See" where the line is with the other hand for the next stroke.

It always took me by surprise also. I can't tell you how many times when working with the public that people would say things such as "your hair is really thin on top" or "your hair is thin enough to need a toupee'" or "I hear rogaine and hair transplants aren't as expensive as they used to be."

I'm typically quick witted and at times have a mouth that gets me into hot water but firing back comments about their appearance doesn't make me a better person or the victor in the exchange. I take solace in the fact I have a little (not much ) class. These are the people that others will constantly try to avoid and will end up nowhere in life. I can shave my head, lose weight, etc. they will always be the people that no one will respect.

If these are friends joking around with you its one thing, but if these are strangers/new acquaintances that's a huge character flaw on their part. Those types of people are clearly unhappy with themselves and think pointing out the less than perfect attributes of others will somehow make them feel better about themselves.

Agreed. None of these individuals were friends. Mostly all of them customers when I worked in the cell phone industry. I didn't take any of it personally as it's my head and I know my hair was thinning.

My true friends find much more hurtful things to say.....as true friends do.

Yeah, see all the comments I get about my thinning hair is from friends.

That being said, more than once they've tipped the doorman somewhere we are going to ask for my ID and tell me something to the effect of I look nothing like my picture / OR I had a lot more hair back then.

Threw me off the first time, but then I saw them about 10 feet away doubled over laughing and I pieced it together.

It's ok...I have paid them back.
