Mercedes continues to kill it with the design this generation. While there is nothing wrong with what BMW and Audi are doing, both are doing premium while Mercedes is doing luxury. To me, BMW and Audi are not playing in the same league with regards to design.

Also love how it's a cross between the C-Class and S-Class dash, a nod to where the E-Class is positioned: between the C-Class and S-Class.

Really like it. Bmw isn't even on the same planet as Mercedes lately when it comes to interiors. Even bmws most expensive cars don't look anywhere near their price tag (i.e. M6 gc feels like maybe a 75k car not 130k).

I'm going to kind of disagree with you. The 6-Series (all variants) is the only BMW that has the interior/exterior to match it's price tag. You option the interior with full leather/two tone (if that's your thing) and it looks like a 100k+ car. Every other BMW, yes, does not match the price tag.

I've been in many and even a full leather m6 gran coupe and was not at all impressed. A full leather porsche or Merc or any of the higher end cars is what I'm comparing to.

Wow. Highly impressive. It looks S-class level, if not better.

The all black looks ace.

Maybe, but they both (5 series and A6) handle much better than current E class, so I hope Mercedes worked on that too. Don't get me wrong, I like the interior of this car quite a bit (and their current model too), but just couldn't live with that sloppy suspension.

I think the fact that BMW ditched the horizontal layout of the dash for the 6-Series makes it that much more special to me.

Comparing apples/apples, I think the 6-Series has a way better interior for the money than the competing Mercedes CLS.

Sure shows how subjective opinions are when it comes to looks

Quilted seats, round 50s chrome A/C vents, etc., etc.

Ill admit, I almost went with a C63 instead of my M4 just because of the flawless interior design. Then I remembered how great MB was and made a sane decision.

So true, but traditionally large Benz models have always been after "old money look" and that kind of buyer likely appreciates this design. Where "new money" is buying in hope of impressing and eventually catching up (this is just envy speaking since I don't belong to either group)

I mean I guess it's unfair to compare to higher end cars that are more luxurious but to me something is off in terms of the looks and the iPad screen still doesn't look well implemented and kind of clashes.

The rectangle of digital display sure is sloppy and uninspired. Outside of that, it does look nice. But it's still a taxi.

x2. Recently sat in a full leather 6-series and thought it wasn't that great. It had contrasting stitching and a lot of it didn't come even close to lining up.

+1. My $80k 640i coupe has a more attractive interior than my $170k SL 63 w/ Performance pack.

CLS interior right now looks awful and sitting in the new S-class feels like having two large desktops in front of you. IMO the AMG GT has the best Benz interior ever.
