What's equality impressive is how well it's handling on a TRACK!!! Considering the weight, 4 doors and factory setup. Just bananas.

NO, no, no lol. I know a guy on IG that tracks his Senna and was there, BayAreaNady. This track day was full of NOVICES that were new to tracking, and tracking their expensive exotics, so the track was packed at all times. There were some fast guys there but they were NOT pushing it at all and they didnt even try to go for their best times.

Exactly

The Tesla had FULL slicks also. It put in a good time, but nothing that plenty of people have beat in their McLarens on normal track days.

EDIT: Also the track day was like a charity type event. There were auctioned off ride alongs and stuff like that, so people weren't pushing hard like normal.

Tesla’s drivetrain is great. Besides charging -related PITA.
It’s the exterior and interior that i personally despise.

Impressive.

Almost as impressive as the stupidity in the comments section of that video on YouTube.

Lol and the Tesla driver was a pro driver. So because novices are driving hyper cars that means the cars elevate the drivers skill level to anything comparable to a pro? That's some odd logic there TX

Just FYI, they have set faster lap times at Laguna Seca with the plaid months ago, so no this time wasn't really impressive at all......

I'll hold reservation as additional videos of addional Supercars are tamed by this automotive marvel.
I hear what you're saying and I even understand it. But this particular Sedan will continue to impress...

One thing I'm curious about is how many sessions can you do with one of these. Obviously most super/hyper cars never see the track but they could go if they wanted to. They could also do all the sessions in the day without issue. Can this thing do 6 20min sessions without worrying?

It would feel odd to me to have this super car that technically can compete with many other cars yet you couldn't even finish a day at the track. I hope that isn't the case.

Plus dont mention the portable diesel generator they have to bring to charge their cars at the ring.

You know since they are makin cars that are above the need of burning fossil fuels, the irony writes itself doesnt it.

that car is completely gutted (look at the other videos on the channel), on slicks, pro driver.... racing novices.

im sure the car is quick. but to believe its really outbreaking a senna or p1 coming into a hairpin is just laughable.

Performance degradation happens almost immediately and worsens as the batteries drain. Cooling is a big issue too. From the factory, you absolutely cannot compare a Model S and a Taycan in terms of track performance. If you want a track car, buy from the tested and proven manufacturer with racing heritage.

doesn't prove a thing IMO.

I consider myself a good driver but a pro race driver familiar with a given track in a golf GTI can easily beat me in a Ferrari first time on the same track (it has happened). so we conclude GTI is faster than a Ferrari or .... ?

Excellent summation.

Or put another way, what happened on the second lap? And the third lap? etc

Good to know.

After the Nordschleife, does Tesla have a confirmed entry in an upcoming 24 Heures du Mans?
