Yeah, and people who want hatch practicality over here often buy a SUV or Minivan instead. In most other areas of the world buying something big and unwieldy isnt really practical so smaller hatches are a better compromise.

I highly doubt it as well, its just a bodystyle that doesn't work well here unless its very inexpensive or marketed at a really tight niche.

I totally agree with wagon style failing in US.
SUV vs. wagon. Obviously SUV is far better if other spec is same... Not sure why Europe loves expensive wagon (stupid design)
