Yeah, you don't want to be the one who gave the queen a dose of Covid, especially if you're the new PM. Doesn't sound good, though.

Well, London Bridge is Down.

Rest in Peace, Queen Elizabeth.

With the gestation period of COVID, she would have been exposed to it days earlier. Also, FWIW, she met with Boris Johnson as the outgoing PM right before meeting with Liz Truss. Blame Boris!

The eyes of the world are on Balmoral (and Buckingham Palace) today, and everyone is sending their best wishes to the Queen and Royal Family.....

I have a question for Murf the Surf - Does Ontario have new highway signs in storage to replace the QEW signs with KCA signs on the change of monarchs, or will they always call it the QEW in her honor? Just curious.

KCA = King Charles Autobahn (wishful thinking).

Was thinking that. Too soon for it to be anything she caught from the PM. But Boris, now there's an easy target.

Well, just finished painting three entry doors on the house, talk about dragging ass. Took better part of six hours including prep work, painting the doors and trim. Had to clean up twice, Front Door is different color than the deck door and garage entrance door.

Still need to do the overhead garage door, but a little more involved in painting that. Typically use Sherwin Williams paints and the overhead door is oil base and our local S/W stores can't get oil base paint. So now it's a primer coat and acrylic latex. Builder originally used oil base on all the doors except the front door. Not sure why, but anyway had the other doors replaced so started new with latex.

So will wait a couple of weeks to tackle that, back and knees need to catch up a bit before putting them through any more abuse.

Getting to old for this, used to be able to get all of it painted in less than a day. Who knows, maybe next time hire it done.

Recently things like this have been getting to me too. For a long time, even though I'm in my late 60s, I never really felt any pain from a little labor. Starting to now, guess it's beginning to catch up with me. Will have to start pacing myself as well.

I need to get up in our Lilliputian attic next week and run Ethernet cable. Not looking forward to that. Contorting these old bones into tight spaces is not fun at all. I bought a 50ft electrician's snake today that I hope will keep me from having to get into the really tight spaces.

If you don't feel up to it you can always do what SpeedBuggy mentioned in his post: "maybe next time hire it done."

In the future for some things I'll probably do that. Getting too old to contort. =/

Yeah, kinda disappointing that it is tougher doing things around the house, even the things you hated doing.

You mentioned pacing yourself, I guess I will have to get used to pacing myself doing bigger projects. Always was one to get done without taking too many breaks. Does that include taking a nap in-between? 😂

Naps are a very important part of pacing oneself.

Trying to get my dads house cleaned so my bro can move in
Crawled into the top of the garage where we put plywood to make storage. I struggled just to step over the cross beams
Home to take that nap about 1:30, with ice. Then my 15mo grand niece appears I'm way too old to chase a little girl around

Yeah Buddy, know what you mean. Our 2-1/2 year old grandson was over today. Still recovering from painting yesterday and we had agreed to a couple of days ago to watch him today. Here for the better part of six hours, Just glad he took a nap for a couple of hours so that I could get one in also. Still though, enjoyed him being here, especially for grandma.

Wait till she gets older, they seem to find more energy.

"I've used a PC my whole life and now I have to use a Mac at work."

When I read shit like this on Reddit I think, "Wow, your whole life." I lived the first 25 years of my life without messing with any computer other than a bit of tinkering with a terminal in high school. And I was into my mid-thirties before a computer became more than a game console for me. Granted, in the thirty years since then a computer has been a major part of my life. But thinking back to the days before personal computers and cell phones and the internet seems like an eternity. And there are people raising kids now who have never known a time when they didn't have cell phones and computers.

I was talking to my nephew tonight and mentioned that I haven't heard from my brother since Thursday and I've been a bit concerned (my brother is mid-50s). Yet in the years I lived overseas, I would go months or even a full year without seeing or having a conversation with my brother. It just wasn't an easy thing to do and it was just the way things were. It struck me that cell phones and the internet have tied us to friends and family in ways that aren't always beneficial. But these ties are entirely normal for most folks under 40 now.
