What Tyre Pressures??

Evening.

We have a 118d shadow edition with the 18" rims, what tyre pressures do people recommend?

Cheers
Virge

The correct ones. See them on a label on the driver's door pillar.

For Shadow Edition mind using black air and/or (at least) a black pump.

Lol, it's says 2.4 bar all round which seemed a little strange as I was expecting different pressures on the front and the back

There must be something wrong with it! Mine, I recall, says 2.0 bar front and 2.2 bar rear (more for heavy load). But I have 17" rims and a bigger (heavier?) N13 engine. I would trust the manufacturer: why did you buy their car otherwise? You don't suspect a tampered label, do you? Consult a dealer (check their stock cars) then.

It depends on how many people and how much luggage you are carrying. With a heavy load, the rear pressure should be higher.

I have to correct myself: I meant against an LCI 118i (B38). Diesel engines just don't exist for me: I did see it was a 118d but failed to realize that somehow. Sorry.

I am not so sure the B38 is lighter. It only has 3 holes in it! :-)

Our 116i was 1290 kg, and our LCI 118i is 1305 kg, according to the registration papers. Must be the big brakes! :-)
It is also longer. 433 vs 432 cm.

This is what I was just checking : pre-LCI 118i (N13) "short engine" is 80 kg, LCI 118d "short engine" is 99.6 kg and LCI 118i (B38) "short engine" is 82.2 kg (excuse my negligence of not checking when you declared buying yours ).

So it looks all right heavier front end (engine) requires higher pressure (just like a heavily loaded read end) and so do lower profile (bigger rim) tyres (they allow less deflection, obviously).

Was it? I remember mine is officially 1340 kg. Or something: the source of truth says it's 1370 kg (and yours must have been 1365 kg).

That is including driver, which is estimated to 75 kg (I think it is actually 68 kg driver and 7 kg luggage).

I must keep slim to qualify. I checked my registration certificate and it says the same: 1370 kg. You claim your registration papers say LCI 118i is 1305 kg: they expect you to drop 60 kg off!

My registration file online (not a paper) is stating the weight of the car both with and without driver. 1380 and 1305 kg. I just have to shed 3 kg to comply! :-)
