And I'm taking the "no manuals" position for G8x and all G22 based on the limited and inconclusive info I have right now.

Thats a bummer. I suppose there’s still the chance though.

Assuming you end up being correct, the G42 and G87 would then become the last hope for those who want a new BMW performance vehicle with a manual transmission. But, will they bother mating the B48 O1, B58, and/or S58 to an MT for a single application? It certainly seems less likely.

You'd think G87 6MT would be the most likely as it would have the highest take up rate.

Any info on how will the naming for diesel hybrids look like in Europe? x30de, x30e or just x30d?

I don't know how much relevance the Canadian models have for the US models, but I obtained a MY20 X3 ordering guide.

The Canadian MY20 are getting new engines:
B46B20O1
B58TUO1

The B58 code doesn't seem to match up normal naming conventions, but I would assume the O1 would mean 382hp

We are also getting ID7 and Live Cockpit Pro as standard

I guess they are giving the next M2 a manual option
M3/M4 slowly taking over M5 territory

I question if that will even happen. They seem to be committed to reducing the amount of drivetrain configurations, hence standard comp pack on the M4 now, the G20 m340i only coming in auto and xDrive.

I feel the chance of the M2 getting a bespoke manual and the M3/4 not getting it would be fairly low. Starting to wonder if there will be a M2, cause maybe the S58 will only be paired with xDrive.

Relax lads, manual M3 and M4 are here to stay.

https://g20.bimmerpost.com/forums/sh....php?t=1636871

BB: The upcoming BMW M3 and M4 are some of the most highly anticipated M cars in a very long time. Will there be any surprises for BMW fans?

MF: No, it’s a bit early to disclose all the details but something I want to highlight is that we will have a manual stick shift. We have already disclosed we will have the option of four-wheel drive. We’ve not decided which variant, which system, but everything that’s on our current lineup; think of the M5; can be made available. The M3 and M4, I’ve driven the pre-production cars already and they’re fantastic.

coming from Markus Flasch himself and the fact that this article was posted yesterday should be reassuring the those who want a manual transmission. maybe not at launch but certainly within a few months after SOP.

Yes, that's the same information I got from my SA on the order guide.

These engines are the same ones in the G20 3er and G29 Z4, so both the B46 and B58 are getting power bumps with the G01 X3.

Does anyone know (SCOTT?) if it's finalized that the G22 4 Series Coupe will not be receiving a manual transmission in any trim level?

I have found several independent confirmations of this.

(Top post updated with this and also another M2 version.)

I have figured out how to distinguish between automatic and manual G80s (hey BMW, kudos to whoever came up with that "X"). And yes, this means all the recent interviews and "leaks" are true, and G80 will offer a choice of transmissions.

That’s good news.

Do you think you will eventually be able to determine which combinations of transmission, drive wheels, and power output will be offered? Or will that have to wait until specs are made expressly public by BMW?
