Love the high quality vid. I miss Hunt et al. announcing from the old days!

Brings back memories.

But this was good clean racing I think. I was surprised, bc I figured from the title that Senna was playing dirty, as he did more than a few times.

I'm glad about that too, when I saw the quality vid I nabbed it, much better than the grainy others.

It was the time of 'Mansell mania' and Honda PU power. Wiliams cars were winning regularly but the 'professor' Prost was tracking their every move in the McLaren Porsche outfoxing Piquet and Mansell at Melbourne with a better tyre strategy that saw Mansells tyre exploding on a straight and Piquet not chancing the same coming in for a tyre change allowing Prost to an easy win and the championship.

The full race introduced by Sir Jackie Stewart showing Mansells car breaking a drive shaft at the start, slowing and causing the midfield to bunch up and some of them crash out without making the first bend. ESPN filmed so much better picture quality.

Mansell then took the spare car which was set up for Piquet and after a few adjustments the race was re-started which Mansell won.

Test days in '82 at the circuit, look at the seat position which was comfortable for the drivers sitting in a more upright position than the lie down 'sun lounger' of now with cranked up neck where they can hardly see the front wheels.

The 1985 'European' GP at Brands Hatch was the scene of Mansell's first F1 win in the Williams Honda. In this test session for it you can also see Senna coming to grips with the Lotus prior to his first win at a rain soaked Estoril.
Ferrari were struggling with Alboreto fearing for his safety in the snake-like Ferrari.

The '76 World Champ James Hunt didn't have the best outing at the start, being punted off by someone avoiding Regazzoni at, you guessed it, the first corner Paddock Hill Bend with suspension damage.
He took a short cut back to pits for repairs, on the short circuit, then won the re-started race but other teams including Ferrari (of course) objected that he didn't complete the full course on the GP circuit getting back to the pits and was DQ from the results two months later.

Hunt got his revenge by winning the BGP which was held at Silverstone a year later also winning a non-championship F1 race held at Brands earlier in March.
