Have you seen any improvement in regards to MPG ?
I have the car for 10 days now and my fuel consumption computer tells me I am doing 9.2l/100KM.
That is bad. However, I have had the AC on for 95% of the time, and my driving KM consisted of maybe 35KM Highway, and the rest is my work drive which is 3.5KM per way, composed of <70 KPH ... So I'll give the car credit Anyhow, I was wondering how has, if at all, it improved over time for you, being a new engine and so forth ? D. |

I wanted some insights on the improvement over time, or if anyone here drives similarly (3 km trips per way, all <70 kph). D. |

My 116i can average less than 6 liters per 100 km if I drive mostly at low RPM. The car seems to be most effective at around 60-70 km/h. There is not much difference between the drive modes. I end up with pretty much the same consumption in Eco Pro and Comfort mode, so the blue numbers with earned kilometers are very far from real.
The AC is in automatic mode, so it is basically always on, but maybe not working very hard here in Norway. I am able to beat the cruise control when it comes to consumption, since the CC brakes too much going downhill. |

I'll do maybe 3 or 4 longer (25-50km) trips per week, mostly on weekends. So far I've done 4500km, and my average is sitting at 8.7l/100km. Hope that helps. |

Why don't you use a bicycle for those 2 km? That is the same distance I have to work. You will not even be sweating. Those short trips are torture for the car.

Your daily driving is very similar to mine. At least I know I don't have any issues... I really thought this car will handle these short trips better. D. |

Primarily though, I have client meetings during the day that sometimes require me to drive out to them. That, and the fact that I spend way more time at the office than I should, so I often leave for home at 19h00 or even 20h00, and it's not really safe to ride a bike or walk with an expensive laptop after dark here. I'm also a bit disappointed with the short-trip economy, but the open-road ease continues to amaze me! |

I drive about 25km a day, at an average speed of 30kph, mostly traffic jam. in the first 1000kms, average fuel cons was about 9l/100km, now about 6.8l/100km, so i reckon as engine lose up with time, the consumption decreases up to a point and should remain stable.

Are you sure your stats are correct ? Can you please provide some more details: Engine type, AC on/off, how long did it take to get to these numbers etc.. Thanks ! D. Edit: Just saw that you have a 116i.. |

Had a 29 km drive with the 116i today, with 70 km/h average speed. Engine was already warm when I started. The car reported 5.1 liters per 100 km (in reality probably 5.3). This was a mix of motorways, roundabouts and country roads. I'm getting close to the factory numbers now, with almost 5000 km on the odometer.
I was driving in comfort mode with A/C in automatic, but not much cooling was necessary, as it was 15 degrees outside. I tried to drive consumption friendly. |

Well, I must be doing something wrong..
I am trying to drive consumption friendly, but I am really disappointed with my L/100KM figures. I have driven 450KM and my computer shows 9.6L/100KM. That's really not what I was hoping to get from this car :-( (my driving characteristics are on the top msg) D. |

Have you tried to use the journey computer, and reset it? Mine was also very high when I received it, so it has probably been running on idle a lot at the dealer or during transport.

This is my first full tank. Passed the 470KM, and just now got the check-alert. I have ~80KM to go. that makes it about 10L/100KM. Which sucks D. |

All your cold starts are of course messing up your results. The engine needs 10-15 minutes warm up time to run like it is supposed to. Driving a car 3.5 km is almost car torture.

I am sure the figures will improve next time you fill up the tank.
It's easier to compare consumption if you take the car for a long ride on highway or countryroads and then check the consumption under constant and smooth conditions.
