In Australia does the Adaptive Headlight option include High-Beam Assist?

Hi Everyone,

Just finalising a few changes to my order and am about to add Adaptive Headlights - for people that have ordered in Australia - do you know if the Adaptive Headlight includes High-Beam Assist or you have to option them both separately?

On the option list it has the separate, whereas in the brochure it mentions High-Beam Assist in the paragraph that explains the Adaptive Headlights option..

Help would be appreciated!

Thanks

James

My understanding is they're two distinct options, so you need to order each separately

Thanks Ttimbo. Do you know this from ordering? Or just interpretation.

I didn't order them, but I looked at the brochure where they are described that way, and also remember asking my dealer when I was configuring mine and I recall he told me:
- the M135 comes standard with bi-xenons;
- you can add adaptive, which gives you cornering (I had this on my S3); and
- you can add high beam assist

Separate options. I had the high beam assist on my M3 and 740i, and quite frankly it is only useful for country drives where there is no street lights. Doesn't work well otherwise. I would not bother.

Is only a few hundred dollars though...

ooooh yes! It has so many delightful personalities. I've never had a car before like it. As others have said, you can pootle around in suburbia, and no-one knows the difference. Then enter a motorway, and let it have its head (a very short moment of pleasure, given our speed limits). Then off into the twists, where I think it really shines. However, if "look at moi" is your thing, then it's a fail!

On the BMW Aus configurator, it seems that if you order Adaptive Headlights, you get high beam assist. However you can order just high beam assist.

I decided against the Adaptive Headlights for my car because I hated the high beam assist on my previous BMW. I do miss the turning Xenons ever so slightly, but even the standard lights are excellent.

I think there's a difference between the configurator, and the actual options sheet that is completed when you order the car. But maybe that's changed since Dec 2012

It is even off by default. You have to enable it manually to use it.
