Hi guys,

I am due to take delivery of my new 116 i M Sport in a couple of weeks.

I have been searching around Google and am trying to find a definite answer for my question!

Will my iPhone 5s work with the iDrive system (Music, playlists etc) with just the cable which comes with the phone (Lightning cable)??

Or... will I need to splash out on the new Y-Cable?

Basically I've read that I will need the Y Cable and that I wont so trying to clarify.

Spec wise, the only extra I've added is the driver comfort pack. Everything else is what comes as standard with the M Sport.

It would work if you have 6NR and professional iDrive system. Otherwise you need to use the BMW cable . That's my understanding

I think u can get a cheaper version which will so the same job as the y cable from Kia. Only reason i say that is that I am sure I read somewhere that they do the same thing. They look identical

Picked up the car Wednesday and the iDrive system doesn't even detect my iPhone 5s when plugged in through the USB port in the arm rest, however it does charge the phone (original apple cable).

Guess i'll have to splash out for the Y cable then.
