I first instinct when I saw the exterior was to frown and cringe a little If they fixed the headlights I feel all will be good (kind of) Interior is hot though

I think there is hope, the hatch and GT will have this front end, but the coupe will have a better one - if not all is lost.

I think the interior looks really good. It's not too busy. Not busy like an Audi, and not too distracting like the Infinity. I like the headlights a lot better than the current 1er. To each his own. I'm sure most of the people who think its bad now will end up getting it. Things grow on people.
Is that room for a spare in the back? |

I'll wait and see what it really looks like in person but at first glance the proportions look suited to a bigger vehicle.

WTF !?
I can't believe what I just seen. I can't believe someone got paid to design that!
Good: Interior. Wider stance. Bad: Front is full of random shapes. Headlights are MASSIVE. Still has the very high character line which makes the car look taller. Overall the car just looks bulky and heavy I'm very disappointed with this!

Love that interior! Major step up. I like the rear but the front with those headlights is just terrible.
And has it been confirmed as being front-wheel drive? Hopefully the (2-series) coupe will look better.

I'll agree that the headlights are still too big for this car, but while we might not like them, I seriously doubt its going to hurt sales much. History has already proven it so...everyone thought the "dame-edna" e60s headlights were disgusting, and that the interiors of the 7-series and 6-series were terrible, ( not mention their "bangle-butts" ), and the first Z4 was considered the epitome of everything negative with Chris Bangle...and yet, they sold. I guess ultimately, the BMW badge, its status, and of course, the driving experience trump any flaws we see in their design. Let's just hope they didn't screw THAT up.

The in-mirror turn signals aren't that bad. I really can't think of anything else nice to say.
I sure hope the 2 series coupe does not have that front end. |
