Haha... I feel your pain. I google weird crap all the time just to find a funny picture. My search history would be horrifying to anyone who didn't know why. To be fair, the orphanage (which I think is fantastic) just has that slightly cringeworthy name for this day and age is all... But it has good intentions !!! Just not a PC name, lol...

In their culture, a child who loses their parents is now the next of kin's responsibility. The kids they have and care for are the ones who's parents have passed while having no next of kin. They provide them with food, shelter, clothes, books, etc... all the needs of any other child. While at the same time doing their best to make them feel valued and loved rather than discarded and unwanted.

On top of that cultural issue, the DR makes it very difficult to adopt from out of country. I think you have to live in the DR for 6 months to a year to be eligible to adopt. They pretty much are raising any kids who show up from what ever age they are until they become an adult. They've grown a lot in the last few years. It started out with needing back packs and clothes. Now they have sponsor programs for the individual kids. Their first year (2013) they took in 2 kids, i think they have upwards of 30 now.

Orphanage may not be PC, but that's pretty much what it is. Curiously, what is the PC term for it?
