Going down on a jetliner has to be THE most horrific way to go. Several minutes of puking from the motion while falling from 35k feet and knowing your are going to die can only be unimaginable horror. I can only pray it was painless at the end and the 228 victims found some peace before it was over.

damn. airplanes are so scary. every 4 years or so my family and i take a trip to the middle east. usually we fly to london and then to lebanon. summer of 08 we flew nonstop to dubai from nyc. it was like an 11+ hour flight. and the return flight was 14 hours. its amazing how planes are capable of this. but i def thought that pilot was drunk or something when he went to land. those camera views that you can see from your tv, my eyes were glued to that watching him line up and approach. it freaked me out

I can't speak for all planes/engines but the newer engines, hell even the older ones, but especially the newer ones like the GE90 or GE90-115B have been tested throughly, including some 30 day non-stop running test (might have been slightly longer or shorter I can't exactly recall). Its the take-offs and landing that place most of the stress on the aircraft and her engines; generally speaking cruising is something she can do all day as long as she has enough fuel, so all of the flying is just another day in teh park for the aircraft, its the people flying her that fatigue

You think 11+ then a turn at 14 is long, try AA's 777 non-stop to Delhi from ORD.......that bitch leaves ORD time at 730pm or so and 15.5 hrs later arrives @ DEL, then turns around 4hrs later. Yup, 31 in 35----NICE. She then many times leaves for Europe a few hours later......

Cheers,

Broke up mid-air, what a way to go.

It was a point of information. If I was repeatedly spelling a word wrong, I'd want someone to point it out so I don't appear to be an idiot in the future.

they found the bodies had multiple fractures ...indicating that the plain blew up mid air, and the rush of air smashed their bodies to pieces... either that or when they hit the water it was like hitting a brick wall..
