Hi guys,
I've got an F20 120d Sport, got it back in January and have covered 8000 miles so far. I've had no major issues, but I have irritating rattles coming from both the passenger door and the driver's door (more so the passenger door). It could also be the seat and not the door. I'll be taking it back in to get looked at. My handbrake also seems to need a big "pull up" to get it to hold, I'll get that tightened up too. Certainly no show stoppers, brilliant car otherwise, just dislike the rattles! |

Have covered about 5000km in 3 months. No major issues, except a rattle on left side doors, sounds like coming from back door. Quite annoying, will take it to the dealer next week. No problem with the hand brake though.

OK, an update after returning from SMG:
- The default spec for the handbrake is 7-8 clicks. Your dealer (SMG did) will gladly tighten it to 5 clicks, which definitely feels better. - The rattling noise at low revs under power that I've previously complained about was diagnosed as a faulty catalytic converter! A new cat has now been ordered from Germany. This was a problem from new, so I guess it's a factory fault. Quite an integral part to replace on an almost-new car, thank goodness for Motorplan/warranty! |

here's a new and proud F20 owner. I have exactly the same problem as Mazzie78 with BMW live (the only difference it's that I'm from Spain). I've asked my dealer and they told me to upgrade the iDrive firmware. I've tried to do it but my car has the latest version installed. I'm going to bring the car to my dealer and ask for a solution, once I have it solved I'll post again. Best regards! |

My fear is that they create a load of rattles by replacing the fan etc. I have it going in for the seat rust issue to be looked at, in about a weeks time, so I will raise it then. |

Disappointed to read there are so many problems, we have spent a lot of money for a hatch back so you would think the production process should be flawless. Especially because it is made in Germany

I think most F20 owners have no problems with the car (like me), but there will always be some issues with new models on the market. If you want a flawless car, always buy one from the last production year.

As for other issues, just to add to this thread that when we came to take delivery of our 11 month old F20, the mirrors and windows weren't working correctly and it was traced to a faulty FEM-Body module, which was replaced under warranty, but had to come from Germany, hence a 4 day delay. |

118i M-sport with just under 2000kms.
My steering wheel creaks when I turn it. Probably just needs a lube which I've booked in to do next week at the dealership. Other than that, it's solid. But I still feel it's not as solid as my old E90... |

I hopw it is just a matter of lubrication. My Compact had the same noise (do not know if it is the same problem) and it required new sterring system. I was lucky it was still under warranty, as it was a 1.500 Euro repair!!
