Seriously, the new A-Class just looks so superior - especially the front and rear views with AMG kit. And that is just by looking at photos - in real life I think it will be a stunner. The interior is also very decent for this segment.

Wow! Great video! They are flogging that 1-series around the 'ring! Looks fast.

Poor little skinny tires trying to hold on for dear life. And I'm sure they are not run flats.

Still hate the looks but the little ugly bastard is freaking quick!

Headlights STILL cannot grow on me despite having nice wheels this time round.

Damn those headlights!

In my talks with M engineers, they felt EPS sacrificed too much feel for the "limited efficiency gains" and they dod not approve. They did more with weight savings than the EPS did to save MPG. (for what it is worth).
Just to be clear, what you've said about xDrive not having EPS doesn't hold true for the F30 (and likely F20) which will be the first xDrive models that have EPS. Personally, I doubt BMW will switch to a hydraulic rack just for the M Performance models as sales are likely too low to justify the expenses. And yes, the next M3 might have EPS too.

The diesel M Performance cars that have already been announced (M550d, etc.) have already switched to hydraulic power steering, and I hope they continue this with the rest of the M Performance cars. Hydraulic steering is something I consider a must-have at this point. Maybe in a few years the EPS systems will be good enough, but right now they aren't quite there. The hydraulic steering in my 135i is easily my favorite thing about it. I drove ~300 miles in our F10 this weekend and just now went for a drive in my 135i, obviously there are many differences between the cars but that steering really makes a difference.

To the people complaining about body roll, I'm glad the suspension is compliant. I don't know if you have lots of smooth roads where you live, but in my area all of the fun roads are very poorly paved and cars without a lot of suspension compliance are practically useless.

The 320hp version of the N55 engine is same as in the 640i. In the small 1-series it will be explosive

I doubt they will offer both a 125i and a 128i. Too close to each other.
Instead they should bring the 6-cyl 3 liter with 272 hp from the 530i instead

South are there currently any xDrive vehicles with EPS? No. Has M said they do not like the current EPS? Yes. Did they launch the M Performance line with EPS? No. Are you certain the F20 and F30 with xDrive will have EPS? The EPS rack is already being changed out from the original SOP version in F30. Where did you hear the xDrive is going EPS? And please don't say the US brand manager.

Yes, I am sure as we've confirmed this with the head of F30 development during press launch in Barcelona, see http://www.f30post.com/forums/showthread.php?p=10823631.

I'm guessing the dark colored test mule pictured is an xi and the blue one is not.... why do BMW xi cars have to sit like old Subaru Outbacks with a 3" lift

BMW seem really challenged with producing front headlights in a design comparible to some other brands. Weakest design aspect on my E82 and I think even worse on this model - even larger when they should be slimmer, sleeker and wrapping upwards on the sides. Small in the grand scheme of things I suppose.

Point now is... what's the weight? Have BMW done work in reduction? I'm all ears!

I agree, headlights on the 1-er are terrible, and I thought the E82s were bad. Was probably the one area I never got used to on my 135i, luckily the LCI introduced the eye brow which somewhat hides the fish-eye look of the pre-LCI 1-series.

How do the people at BMW make something as hideous as the F20 as the replacement for the LCI E82. Do they celebrate Oktoberfest year round or something? Good lord.

what a shame it looks like VW Polo clone from the rear and front is so bozz eyed. Nice car otherwise.

I hope facelift will make it tolerable, just like with X1.

I've never seen a community of car enthusiasts more conservative than the ones on this board. I'm not saying that in a bad way. Just time and time again, when a new model is revealed, everyone freaks out only to find that in a few years that model is on their driveway and they like it.
Totally agree.

I dont think it's conservative, I think people just shoot from the hip with an opinion before they see the car in person. On the Internet, people do nothing but judge it by the cover.

Ever been on a forum and have a new race track be introduced? . People leap out of their chairs to review the sketches and declare a track " boring" before its even paved or before they see an elevation map etc, lol.

The majority of these comments about how "ugly " the f20 is are from people who have not seen it in person. Half of them will change their mind in a few years and 20 percent will probably end up owning one lol.

I am not a fan of the triangular headlights, but they definitely don't photo well. The car in person looks handsome and the headlights don't jump out at you like they do in photos.
