Our 116i has the non adaptive M-Sport suspension. The adaptive version was also available as an option, but I didn't want that. I prefer consistent dampers and steering assist.

It is an F20. We wanted back doors for practicality. I am happy with both the suspension and the steering. The steering feedback is a little bit vague, though. I think it has to do with very small caster angles in the front suspension.

Same here. What color did you get? Have you done any mods to it so far?

Oh my........ I was really hoping that the brochure was wrong with the non adaptive M suspension... Servotronic (proper term should be variable sport steering) is something like when you are at a stop, it takes lesser steering rotation to make a larger wheel turn..

Servotronic means variable power assist. The variable sport steering is servotronic plus an unlinear steering rack that is geared quicker towards the ends. I think you might be confusing these options with active steering, which was an option on cars like the E60 5 series. It had a real variable steering ratio with few turns from lock to lock at low speed, and many turns at high speeds. This is not available as an option for the F20/F21. |

Yes, I sometimes participate in track days. The coming weekend, it will go sideways around an ice track on a frozen lake.

That looks just the most awesome fun!
So you had TC fully off, i.e. switch held down for >5 seconds, right? And that switches everything back to Comfort mode, i.e. steering, throttle response, suspension stiffness and gearchange speed (if auto), right? Still find that annoying on the part of BMW. Let the driver decide how he wants to configure his own car's driving systems! BTW, I think the vid is more fun when you can see the arm twirling and steering wheel going round, so if you can, try that this time. Rear window mount is good, although getting the exposure setting with a snow background is going to be tricky. Otherwise an externally mounted GoPro showing your arm twirling could be fun too! |

The weather forecast says snowy weather this weekend, so I doubt that I will do any recording. There are plenty of other cars running around with GoPro cameras, though. I agree that the best camera angle is one that has the steering wheel included. I don't have any suitable mounts to do so. I am more into taking still pictures than video, usually. |
