Funny you mention this. I had the house to myself for a few hours yesterday and thought I might watch this and then saw the reviews that called it "unwatchable". I suspect car people might enjoy it though. Next time my bride is away I might cue it up and see if it's watchable.

No, ironically, I suspect that the 'typical' car ppl will *not* like it because it doesn't focus as much on the cars as some may have liked. However, I was ok w that as they tried to focus more on the person (it's also a short film just being over 1.5h and I would've liked to have seen more).

It's not a great film but it was definitely watchable. Some ppl were comparing it poorly to Ford vs Ferrari and I thought that it was an unfair and silly comparison. As we all know, there isn't the usual struggle-leading-to-triumph movie arch as this was based on real-life and ofc while Lamborghini made his mark, he didn't really topple his Modena rival.

Have you guys seen the 2011 film Perfect Sense? I had missed it totally, and upon watching it was just like, wow, so prophetic!

Haven't heard of it but tx for telling me. It's rated pretty high @7 on IMDb.

Watched John Wick 4 again, this time with the lady friend. We both enjoyed it. Stayed for the short after credits scene this time around.

Elysium was not bad and slightly upsetting with it's too knifey scenes but a good ending for a change.

We are running out of things to watch as we are caught up on the series we're watching and waiting for next episodes. So I had seen the trailer for this a few days ago and thought it might be good. We got about 40 minutes in, my wife was falling asleep. I had no idea what was going on, so we killed it.

Entertaining but flawed film. Way too long, could easily trim 30-40 minutes and not lose anything. Visually impressive, but a total CGI overload. Very simplistic storyline and characters you struggle to tell the difference between as all just gangly blue people. That said, I enjoyed it more than most Hollywood blockbusters of late.
For the reasons you just mentioned, James Cameron is a hypocrite for talking shit about "Comic Book Movies".
I will finally watch it this weekend at home.

Hopscotch (1980)

Walter Matthau, Glenda Jackson, Ned Beatty, et. al.

I watched it with my father yesterday and had forgotten what a great movie it is.

Short synopsis: Matthau is a career spy who unceremoniously gets put out to pasture by his nipplehead of a boss during the height of the Cold War.

So, he decides to write a tell-all book and sends it chapter by chapter to various spy agencies.

And those spy agencies collectively lose their minds as they race to capture/kill him before he publishes the book.

It's a "literate" script with a lot of clever dialogue- although it's probably classified more as a comedy than as a spy movie. It's worth watching, if only to see how the world was during the Cold War.

Would be very interested in Heat 2 but not a fan of Adam Driver. Have found that people either like him or they don't. There's no middle ground.

I totally get that and agree, although I guess I'm the rare middle ground, even he's another obvious 'chosen one' the bigwigs decided to prop up.
