What's with the pick-ups?! They look dreadful!
And I agree; The E46 Touring M3 is magic. What we need now is an F31 Touring M3 again. I've no idea why BMW won't do this. The demand would be huge I imagine.

Agree. Maybe BMW was considering a Holden HSV Maloo fighter.
(It's a V-8 "performance utility" vehicle.)

These M3 Pickups, as well as the E36 M3 Compact, E46 M3 Touring, and Z3 M Coupe were evidence of the autonomy and unyielding passion that the M Division had in the days past. Of course, the Z3 M Coupe even made it to the production line after Burkhard Göschel and his engineering team unrelentingly convinced the board to give the stamp of approval, which is crazy because one would be hard-pressed to find any "renegade engineering" ideas materialize at today's M.

I'd buy that E46 M3 touring if it were available new today! Leave the design alone, just modernize and produce in 2016.

When i was in Germany i felt BMW lacked a good wagon to compete with RS wagons and AMGs which clearly are very popular choice due to speed, power and comfort. Touring would have been very nice.

E46 M3 touring (factory built) is about as close to a Unicorn BMW as you will see.

It never ceases to amaze me just how timelessly the E46 M3 has aged. It is such a spectacular design that still looks better than most cars on the road today. The proportions are just right, looks like an athlete in a suit. Amazing car.
The interior is another story, but I don't care given how it looks and drives. What a masterpiece. |

When I was a kid, my dad had a '84 325i. I thought it was the coolest car on the planet and when he received BMW catalogs, I'd dream about the e30 M3's with Hartge wheels, etc. That M3 chassis holds a special place in my bimmer heart.
