So I was on my way to test a bunch of BMWs and unfortunately I saw a Mercedes / Land Rover dealer displaying their Volvo EX90.

I sat inside it and now it's ruined my car ownership BMW predilection.

These things I cannot find in any BMW my country is able to sell me.

• amazing sound system (Bowers and Wilkins atmos!) - only have HK and it's not good. (My G30 has B&W and yeah even that is worlds apart)
• 3 adults across the middle row - X7 can't do that even (i have full sized 3 teenagers with ice hockey gear!)
• round steering wheel that is not thick as a tree - i'm a simple man!

I'm not sure what I'm going to do. Meanwhile I'm gonna live off my M550i and I am desperately trying to find something stop me getting into the EX90 ... maybe need to focus on how bad touch screens are without physical buttons ... that's it! Just get a F90 Comp!

So far I've looked at the X3, iX3, X7, X5 M60i - the most relaxing was the iX3 !

Be warned, if you like sound systems and round things do not get into a EX90!

Because I got into one in April and it's ruined me...

I once had an XC60 as a loaner when my car was in for service. As luck would have it I had 300km of driving that day. By the end of the drive I wanted to kill myself.

We have an XC40, and I love that thing. To me, the interior and dashboard are beautiful - simple, clean design. It's how BMWs used to be. That's one of the things I love about my 135.

I could never bring myself to buy one of the new 2 series, no mater how well they might drive. I throw up in my mouth a bit every time I see that stupid huge screen plastered across the dash instead of a nice analog (or at least analog looking) gauge cluster nestled in a curvy hood.

To be fair, a lot of other brands are much worse.

Of course, I am almost 60, and frequently feel strong urges to yell at kids to get off my lawn, so...

If it helps at all early experiences with the EX90 says they’re unreliable heaps.

You can always upgrade the speakers and amp in a BMW. Car Toys in my area specializes in upgrading sound systems.

I hate Volvo ICEs. Gutless. Also checked out their sound system, wasn't impressed.

But the EX90 (err ... BEV !!!) seems to be superior.

they changed a lot of things in the 2026 (even the drivetrain is different) for some reason. You're right, I don't think they're ironed out everything.
Maybe wait for 2027 ...

I don't need to upgrade my G30 B&W speakers, they're perfect. In the G30 I have amazing sound from the front left right center and the bass from my feet, and some fill i can pick up from the rear. Changing speakers won't change that.

The B&W Atmos in the Volvo I have high end sound bubble encapsulating me from a 360 degree sphere. It's hard to describe. The other thing is the drive is so quiet that it also helps to hear the sound compared to my G30 the moment i start driving i lose at least 50% of the sound to tire roar.

But I don't like (HATE) the touchscreen controls for everything - but hey no different from BMW - also hate them there. I can live with the terrible driving dynamic just because it's a 3 ton truck.

Had a xc90 in the 2000's. Got it new. 3 transmissions, while under warranty, in a year, but the interior and styling was great. Their AC sucked in AZ, guess they didn't need to cool a car in Sweden. Safest car then, sure...because it sat on the back of a tow truck so often. Ended up trading it off (never went back for the third transmission repair pickup) and got a X3 instead. But...I'm sure they've got it right by now...

I've been dailying EVs since 2000, total 5 EVs. They just work, and they move me around in pure luxury not many gas cars can. Cumulative annual service / repairs so far is $0. It fills up the 'gas' at home overnight while I sleep. But i've just sold my last EV and now looking for another car while I hoon around in my G series V8.

Granted, I'm still looking at an X5 M60i ... but the EX90 ... !

The difference though is this thing has no engine and no transmission.

Volvos have always had some of the best sound systems. But that's about it...
