I can only dream of having that kind of infrastructure here in the US. The other thing that people seem to say about China is "There are no freedoms for Chinese people!"

So what? My wife told me once that Chinese don't care about freedom because that isn't a word they understand. They see their country providing them with the best and safest place to live. They have access to so many wonderful things.

I swear, if someone tells me one more time how things are better here in the US than they are in China, then please tell me which parts those are because I'm not seeing them.
I also actually own my land/home in Chengdu/Chongqing and don't have to pay taxes on it.. LOL

You are splitting hairs, they got bombed because they were enriching uranium.

I'm not splitting hairs, go read the press release from June of 2025 from the White House.

Either that or they were lying...but surely you don't believe that.

They got bombed because Republicans have been foaming at the mouth for decades to bomb/invade Iran and we have an administration that is easily manipulated by countries like Israel. But go read the 2025 press release, don't take my word on this forum for it.

Yup...to paraphrase a saying:

So what have we once again learned. Politics both domestic and global effect almost everything in the automotive industry whether or not you want it to.

This is only half the story, but you believe or argue what you want. This went political and that was not my intent.

I started posting in this thread about the issues I see in buying stuff from Chinese manufacturers based on my own and my friends experiences working with companies and business people from China and the Chinese government. I would and do happily buy product from most other Asian countries to save money, and I have bought stuff made in China but I prefer not to and avoid it when I can. If I buy an electric car it will be a BMW I4 or a Tesla Model 3. I don’t care if BYD is better value.

On the topic of Chinese brands...

The first batch of Chinese EVs arrived in port and they're.. $120k Lotuses. Next batch will be Polestars. Maybe if we ask nicely they can import some long wheelbase BMWs too for Altamate.

https://www.ctvnews.ca/politics/arti...igh-price-tag/

The article mentions some of the concerns regarding data handover to Chinese government. It makes sense about not wanting them around sensitive government areas, people, etc.

Cheap Chinese EVs Look Great Until The Trade-In Quote Arrives
Fresh figures from Germany’s DAT vehicle valuation group show Chinese EVs and plug-in hybrids are depreciating twice as fast as the industry average. And the rate of depreciation is only getting worse.
The Financial Times reported recently. Quoting figures from Indicata, it claimed the average three-year-old EV as of last month was worth 38 percent of its original value, compared with 46 percent in Germany, France and Spain. In contrast, a same-age petrol car in the UK retained 45 percent of its value, and a hybrid, 51 percent.

This is true of all EV's from all sources, mostly because people are irrationally fearful of the reliability of EV's. In reality all of those excessively depreciated EV's are just fantastic deals for the buyers smart enough to pick them up.

Sorry for not posting the URL for the article but lately FireFox is giving me fits.
The point of the article was the higher deprecation of Chinese EV's vs other EV's. It's not an irrationally fear if the facts show high depreciation.

The article conveys no real data, nor does it link it... i suspect the depreciation is largely the same as all EV's which is right back to the prior point.

I fo think the lack of confidence in a continued brand presence hurts them, similar to how genesis cars pat a price for not having good dealers. (Tho they are building a big new dealership near me)

Indeed.
The compunction among some to promote politically correct declarations gets in the way of rational discourse.
It is what it is.

Thansk for providing the source for your ealire quote.
Unfortunately, nothing in that artcile substantiates the click-bait title, even though the premise seams valid: depreciation should be higher for brand new (Chinese EV) brands than the more established ones.
I can't validate the claims within FT's site, as that article is behind a pay wall.

That's easy, Israel and the US, this year and last year, to eliminate resistance to Israel continuing to take land and expanding settlements in other people's land. That's it. Those that believe in sky-fairies think they have the ultimate right to the land above anyone else. And once again, I'm waiting for someone to read the press release from June 2025, so you can see how, with no question, Iran's nuclear program was obliterated and set back years. You owe yourself that...then you can watch Netenyahu saying they are 2 weeks away from a nuclear bomb...for the last 20 years.

There's a significant difference in turbine engine technology given the size difference between the fan portion of the engine between both aircraft. With russian/eastern aircraft, the solution has usually been to just increase fuel flow for thrust, more thrust, more air moved over hot parts, but sloppy tolerances and poor fuel economy. This is where western technology really shines, but China, as opposed to Russia, is really catching up fast. But in every case, the efficiency of the turbofan is more indicative of the technology level IME. It's not hard to make a Mach 3 aircraft. It's hard to do it with any kind of efficiency and reliability. And speaking of that, the A400 might be an even better marriage of the C17 and C130 technologies.
