Interior ceramic/sealer/etc
I took a 10+ year break from detailing and now that I'm back into it I'm trying to catch up.
I finally figured out the exterior, but what is everyone doing with the interior? Just staying on top of it with an interior cleaner, or is everyone using some form of sealer/interior ceramic? They don't seem to be as mainstream as an exterior ceramic. |

I use the Gyeon leather ceramic after a gentle cleaning, but it's hard to quantify the benefit. Was hoping it would help save the upper bolster that my wife can't seem to not rub against getting in/out! I will continue until it's gone!

Depends on the leather for me. On some leather you can't even tell it's there, on others it feels too plasticy for my liking, takes away a bit of the softness of premium leather. I used it on my wife's X1 Senastec leather and couldn't even tell it was there by touching it and it's held up great. Didn't like it as much in my F150 (unknown leather type) or M5 merino leather.

Gyeon Leather Shield to seal once a year.
Periodically I use Nextzett Lederpfledge as a one step cleaner/ conditioner. They do not affect the look or feel at all. Seems to all work just fine, but I have no idea if the leather seats would look or feel any different if I used nothing. |

The only thing you want to maintain is leather, else it will start cracking with age. Tons of products for that, start with cleaning, then conditioning. If things got bad, then add some color-matched dye to fill-in the cracks. You want leather to breath, so sealing it with ceramic is counter-productive. If your seats are plastic / Leatherique / whatever - then treat them as all other plastics in the car. Clean, done. Or ceramic coat if that makes you happy (BTDT), but it's a waste of money as it will rub off after a few days of use. For everything else: clean, done. There are FAR too many specialized cleaners peddled by car detailing companies. Keep it simple - one "interior cleaning" for all plastics (other than leather and screens) does the trick. HTH, a

It’s not a ceramic, but Griot’s Leather 3‑in‑1 is pretty solid. It uses beeswax, advanced polymers, and carnauba for protection. I like using it on leather, vinyl, and soft plastics. I haven’t noticed any stiffness, and it’s also great for cleaning door interiors. Just watch out for hard plastics, glass, and any glossy areas, it can haze and look milky on those surfaces.
