Learned to drive in a Volvo (figures - so did everyone where I'm from) and inherited my grandma's Volvo 740 GL '90, back in the late 90's. Bought my first BMW in the early 00's.
Some years later, due to having cars issued to me by my employer for several years I didn't need to buy my own. However, they didn't do BMW's. I ended up with a Polestar 2. Pretty decent car and certainly great for being an early-ish BEV. Also drove a bunch of other Volvo BEVs and PHEVs. Then got back to BMW a little while after my relationship with that employer ended. Very happy I did. |

Here’s a long list because I’m old. I’ll exclude trucks and motorcycles for clarity.
1. 1966 Ford Fairlane 289 2. 1971 Pontiac Grand Prix model J 3. 1971 Fiat 124 Spyder (my first manual shift) 4. 1980 Subaru hatchback 5. 1984 Ford Ranger 4x4 - I’m including bc it was my DD 6. 1973 VW Super Beetle - made me swear no more VWs. 7. 1990 Pontiac Grand AM 8. 1987 Mazda sedan 9. 1992 Ford Thunderbird 10. 1998 Jeep Cherokee 11. 1999 Jeep Grand Cherokee 12. 2008 Jeep Grand Cherokee 13. 2009 BMW 3 series sedan - first BMW car. I test drove a BMW years ago and fell in love. 14. 2010 BMW 5 series sedan with Xdrive 15. 2013 BMW X3 i28 Xdrive - my favorite SUV/ SAV until now 16. 2026 BMW X3 M50 - my most favorite vehicle ever. My husband liked BMW motorcycles and when we’d go to the BMW dealer who carried both cars and motorcycle's I’d go look at the BMW coupes, convertibles, and X vehicles.

Drove chevy trucks for years until my wife bought a Passat W8, I dove it once and knew my truck days were over.
Not trying to be a snob, but when you sit in an M car and push the button, holy Sh**, it is insane. |

When do I get hooked on BMWs?
Is it when I buy my 5th BMW? Or perform my 10th coolant system overhaul? Is it when I fix my 100th oil leak? Or maybe when I R&R my second trunk floor/diff mount? Or when? |

Learned to double-clutch in a Ford Model A, really! My roommate in college used to restore old cars.
My owned daily drivers are as follows: 1963 used Chevrolet Corvair Monza 1967 VW Beetle (first autocross car, with Koni shocks and Pirelli tires - couldn't afford extra $15 per month for BMW 1600) 1970 Audi 100LS 1972 Mazda RX-2 1974 Mazda RX-4 1976 Mazda RX-7 1981 Toyota Supra 1984 Mustang 5.0 hatchback 1988 Mustang 5.0 notchback (SCCA E Street Prepared mods) 2000 used Honda Accord EX (took break from AutoX) 2006 Hyundai Azera (still on AutoX break) 2009 BMW E92 M3 (Lightly modded for AutoX) 2022 used BMW G83 M4 Competition X-drive Convertible (keeping stock, but going to Advanced M-school to drive BMW's M-cars)

Mixed BMW in as early as I could, starting with the Z4 mostly had cars overlapping so I could have different things at once.
Very much hooked on Aston’s as a special addition to the garage these days, but BMWs (and especially an M) have to be in the mix, they’re so good. 1. 1994 Holden Barina 2. 2000 Mitsubishi Verada KH 3. 2003 Mitsubishi Magna VR TL 4. 2007 Ford XR6 Turbo BF2 5. 2009 Ford XR6 Turbo FG 6. 2010 Ford XR5 Turbo LV2 7. 2005 BMW Z4 E85 8. 2005 Mitsubishi Magna AWD TL 9. 2013 Volkswagen Golf Mk7 10. 2004 BMW M3 manual E46 11. 2015 BMW 125i F20 LCI 12. 2018 Nissan QASHQAI 13. 2010 BMW M3 DCT E90 14. 2019 Ford Everest 15. 2014 BMW M4 DCT F82 16. 2022 Toyota Land Cruiser LC300 17. 2023 BMW M3 Touring G81 18. 2008 Aston Martin V8 Vantage Roadster manual 19. 2025 BMW M4 manual G82 20. 2025 Volkswagen Touareg 210TDI R-Line RC 21. 2025 GWM Cannon Alpha PHEV (work ute) 22. 2014 Aston Martin Vanquish 23. 2026 BMW X5 M60i G05 LCI 24. 2026 BMW M3 manual G80 LCI (ordered) |

G87 is my first BMW but always liked and followed M cars through the years especially any M3 manual, back to E36,E46. Always wanted one. When S58 became available in a brand new manual M car for “only” $70k I ordered an M2.
I’ve basically had manual cars my entire life over 30 years driving, lots of modifications as well. List below 85 Toyota pickup 22re 88 Integra 99 Sentra 2003 350z 2007 Subaru STi 2011 Subaru STi 2020 Subaru STi 2021 Bronco 7mt 2024 M2 |
