BMW 1 2014 (F20) - key fob issue

Hi All,

My dashboard showed error message "Remote control Replace battery" - so I did. The error message showed up again, replaced battery again (from another packet). The error message popped up again - so clearly not the batteries.

Since then, fob won't open/close the door, but the engine starts fine (I have working spare key)
I have tried:
-get in the car, close the door, hold the key against the key symbol on the steering wheel column, start the engine, waited about 1m - NOTHING (error message still popps up).
-I have tried to click and hold unlock button and click theree times the lock button, then releasing unlock button - NOTHING.
-contacted BMW they advised me to go in the car, select "ConnectDrive" on the iDrive menu, press Option button, scroll down to "Update BMW services" option .... which I haven't got... ???!! so they "didn't know" and sent me to the dealers ..

Google seem to run out of option and AI is useless as showing me - insert the key into the ignition - I haven't got one! It's a start/stop button (which I specified in my search text)!

HELP !! Does enyone ever had that problem and know how to solve it??

Hi!

First, you chose the wrong section of the forum: Classifieds is used for advertisements. Your request for help is unlikely to be noticed here. You should've posted it in the main model discussion section (and no, it's not really populated now so you could try technically close models of 2, 3, 4 Series "F" designation forums for more of knowing/experienced audience).

Regarding your issue. If your other (spare) key fob works fine I would suggest you take the battery from it and put it into the fob in question. If it fails to work still it must be faulty. The message you keep receiving actually means the fob's signal is weak: make sure it's not being blocked by anything (like using it from inside an RFID protected purse ).
