Eurotrip '24, Elafonisos, Abruzzo, Innsbruck, Munich, Netherlands

Took the family to our usual eurotrip with the F80, we spent most of our time in Elafonisos, Laconia, had to extend the trip due to health reasons and sent the family back to the UK on a plane, the wife returned a week later and we got the chance to spend 2 weeks on our own, 1 week in Greece and another in the places you will see here.

Best seen in 4k.

Had a couple of niggles with the car due to extreme heat conditions in July & August. The Intercooler went as the collars and pipe clamps on the charge pipes got really loose as well as front break pads and one of the disks from the Alcons cracked a bit.

Changed them all with OEM parts and had a set of Alcon discs sent over from the UK.

The Powerflex yellow engine mount inserts melted too, so changed the whole engine mounts justb to be safe with OEM ones; should have listened to you M3SQRD when you advised to get the bimmworld aluminium inserts, which I have now ordered.

On the way back, found the flood in Ancona and lots of rain all around. 90% of the Italy-Austria-German leg was under extreme rainfall.

Hope you all had a great summer.

Neuschwanstein Castle Munich

A bit about the journey.

On our way down we were 4 adults(family but only the 2 kids as the eldest was already on holidays with his mates) we took off from Cambridge and drove 758miles/1220km to Lake Como straight, we departed 11am and arrived at 10pm(12 hours given the time difference), thankfully our Folkestone/Calais crossing was efficiently quick, relatively.

We slept in Lake Como and then in the morning we took off without sightseeing(we 've been to Lake Como several times before), our final destination in Italy being Venice from where we embark for Greece, we also decided to totally skip Venice as we have seen it several times as well plus it takes a lot of walking and carrying luggage and as we had a whole full day to spare we decided to go visit Padua instead, we left Como at 10am and arrived in Padua comfortably at noon. Venice being less than an hour away, I was relieved of stress and took the whole day chilling. In the evening we went for sightseeing and dinner.

Next afternoon we embarked from Venice for Greece and arrived in Patra 36 hours later at about 11pm, we then drove to Athens in about 2 hours and stayed there for 3 nights to see friends and family and also to pick up our eldest son.

We then drove to our holiday home in Elafonisos and stayed put for a few weeks, travelling occasionally to Monemvasia which is only 20 miles away just to take visiting friends for sightseeing.

Departed Elafonisos on Wednesday afternoon 1pm and arrived in Athens(215 miles/350km) early evening, slept there for the night and then on Thursday at 11am we started our drive for Igoumenitsa(300miles/507km) -after passing first by Meteora- from where we boarded the boat to Ancona(we changed our return tickets to extend our stay).

The boat departed at 19:30 on Thursday evening and arrived in Ancona at 2pm on Friday.

We drove to Innsbruck 400miles/650km and arrived at our hotel at 9ish, despite very heavy traffic around Bologna as usual.

Had a good night's sleep with the fresh mountain air and early in the morning I had my rear tyres changed which I had arranged a couple of days earlier. We then took off for the Neushwanstein Castle in Munich where our kids had never been before.

Left Innsbruck at 12 noon and arrived in the Castle at 2pm(70 miles/110km), spent a few hours there sightseeing, taking footage and for lunch and then made our way to Karlsruhe as I was not sure whether I wanted to go to the Nurbrurging today or carry on for England.

We left the Castle in Munich at 6pm and arrived in Karlsruhe at 9pm last night, 177 miles/286km. Thoroughly enjoyed this leg in the autobahn during the golden hour.

This morning we decided to head to the UK as my gout was hitting me and would not have enjoyed tracking the car. We left Karlsruhe at 11:30am and arrived in Calais at 4pm covering 400miles/607km. Found a bit of traffic, but kept our pace, enjoyably.

At 4pm British time(1 hour less) we were in Folkestone and by 6pm we were at home covering the last 120 miles for a total of 1682miles/2700km on the return leg.
