BMW Officially Launches Access by BMW - U.S. Subscription Service, Including M Models
BIMMERPOST NEWS BMW Officially Launches Access by BMW - U.S. Subscription Service, Including M Models Woodcliff Lake, NJ – April 4, 2018… BMW Financial Services in the U.S. announced today the debut of Access by BMW, a new vehicle subscription service that will provide members with unlimited access to a diverse fleet of BMW vehicles through a single monthly subscription. Access by BMW will debut as a pilot program in Nashville, TN on April 4. The program will be facilitated by local BMW dealers who are responsible for vehicle deliveries and maintenance. Access by BMW members will have the ability to request a vehicle based on their planned usage or activity via mobile app (available for both iOS and Android). Once a vehicle has been requested, a BMW concierge will personally deliver the vehicle most closely matching the member’s needs to their location at the desired time. Vehicles arrive fully fueled and freshly detailed with personal preferences already pre-set. There is no limit to how often members can switch vehicles within a given month. “As customers continue to explore the growing mobility market, service-related offerings are becoming more in demand. With Access by BMW, our members will enjoy the freedom of personal mobility with access across a broad range of our highly emotional vehicles” said Ian Smith, CEO of BMW Group Financial Services USA and Region Americas. “Subscription-based services are of emerging interest for our customers, and we’re excited to be offering a mobility service to meet their individual and evolving needs.” During the pilot phase, Access by BMW memberships will be offered in two tiers ranging from $2,000 - $3,700 per month, inclusive of vehicle maintenance, insurance and BMW Roadside Assistance. Additional tiers allowing even greater access to a broader range of BMW vehicles will be added as the program expands. The two initial tiers are: A “Legend” tier will include a selection of BMW sedans, coupes and convertibles, as well as BMW Sports Activity Vehicles such as: The BMW 4 Series (coupe and convertible), BMW 5 Series and plug-in hybrid BMW 530e iPerformance, the BMW X5 Sports Activity Vehicle, plug-in hybrid BMW X5 xDrive40e iPerformance Sports Activity Vehicle, and the BMW M2. A highly emotional and exhilarating “M” tier will consist of BMW’s most powerful and highest-performing models such as: BMW M4 convertible, the all-new M5, BMW M6 convertible, as well as the BMW X5M and BMW X6M Sports Activity Vehicles. “A pilot program is a great opportunity for us to learn. In the future, the nationwide network of BMW dealers will be integral to the success of Access by BMW,” said Smith. “We will depend heavily on their close collaboration to continue to meet and exceed consumer expectations, and to ensure the sustainable development of this new business model.” Access by BMW is powered by Clutch Technologies. For more information, or to sign up, download the official Access by BMW app or visit www.AccessbyBMW.com.“Access by BMW” to Debut as a Pilot Program in Nashville.

Will cost between $2000-$3700 a month. A bit pricey, more than a mortgage payment to rent a car. You could lease an i8 or buy a used one for a lower monthly payment.

even if I lived in a major metro city and only wanted to drive now and again but not have to deal with parking the car in a $$$ deck...this is waay to steep $$$ for this program. I believe you can lease 4 series for 799/mo in my area. less sometimes. with M Sport PKG. BMW has a great maintenance program with leases too. That's why I'm never scared to buy CPO.

I don't get it... nothing less than the M tier is interesting to me and last time I checked it's cheaper to lease or buy. Or does that include insurance, gas, and full maintenance? (Wait... the math still doesn't work!?)

Seams very expensive. Not sure that you even have the vehicle for the entire month.

An M4 is $800-1200 depending on trim. The M tier is probably $3700. Even while paying for insurance and the flexibility of cars, the price is steep. You could lease an M4 and a X5M at the same time for less money.
FWIW I'd be willing to pay $1500 for a mid tier: X1-X5, 2 series, 3 series, 4 series, M2, M3/4, 5 series, and i3. The 6,7, 8, and i8 and their M variants could be the upper tier at $2000+

Lol Porsche's Passport program is cheaper. And this is in TN. What happens if/when it comes to SF? Ha, they will have to learn

I get it: insurance, maintenance, blah-blah included. But, all-in monthlies for leasing any of those M-series vehicles built-to-order is less than $3,700/mo - by a longshot.

Can I not get a new M5 and pay for a nice heated underground spot for it for under $3,700 a month?
Lease: $1,425 (factor 4.5k due at signing /36 years = 125 on top of 1299 available now) Underground parking: 150-500 depending on city Monthly car was program: 100 bucks Average: $1,425 + 250 (park) + $100 (wash) + $400 (gas, really high end) = $2,175. What else does subscription get outside of variety? In all honestly I'm sure I'm missing something big as BMW I'm sure did enough market research to understand if this would have appeal.

So how funny would it be to switch vehicles EVERY day. They would probably cancel your service.

Maybe the price is so high due to limited access and availability during the test phase. They can't have everyone jump on board.
I agree that if I can lease and insure both a SAV and a sporty coupe for less than the plan it seems useless. The only thing that *might* make this interesting is if you can have a car ready for you wherever you go in the US once it is fully rolled out. |

I have car ADD, so I've been watching these subscription options with high hopes, but I don't have deep enough pockets for this.
I understand the 'convenience' factor and unlimited swaps, but this just doesn't seem to make financial sense - and anyone with the cash flow would probably just lease and flip. |

Agree - pricing is ridiculous.
Unless someone really wants to drive all the various vehicles offered in the plan, or constantly switch vehicles, it's gonna be a hard sell from a price perspective. |
